Samsung's 20 and 22-inch LCD monitors are "Vista Premium certified"

If you're a fan of Samsung's black lacquer, piano finish then be sure to check their new line-up of SyncMaster LCD monitors. Announced in 20-inch (CX206BW) and 22-inch (CX226BW) models, both deliver a 3000:1 contrast ratio and lickity-quick 2ms response time. Resolution? Not announced, but like all the other 22-inchers out there, it's safe to say that this one (pictured) likely sports that ubiquitous 1680x1050 pixel resolution. Besides, given the way Sammy likes to toss the "Full HD" buzz-phrase around, maybe it's best they just keep quiet on the matter, eh? Apparently, these are the "Windows Vista Premium certified," slabs we heard were coming. In other words, they include at least one HDCP-enabled DVI input around back just like most newer monitors sold (only without all the hubbub). In Korea, these will set you back 370,000KRW ($399) for the CX206BW or 439,000KRW ($473) for CX226BW -- chunky bezels: free.

The screenshot on the monitor looks like XP with a Vista theme rather than Vista Premium. The cut-off Windows logo for the start menu button is a clear sign. Not good for a product that is supposedly "Vista Premium Certified".

It is vista Idiot. The button is a circle, and I cna clearly see the top. And XP cannot have task switching with 3-dimensional windows.

Not only that. that girl does not have any other pose. She has NO range.
that LCD is cheap price wise.

You're right jason!!! Way to spot the obvious. NOT! haha, idiot.
it only looks like it's cut off cuz there's a white highlight at the top of the logo. but i agree that it is a screenshot.
the lcd looks nice too, but i don't think i'll buy it because jason is so right!

Wait 1 second. On the aving site all of "PICS" on the monitor are the same. Maybe not photoshop work but i come to believe that the LCD is simply displaying an actual Picture (jpeg, bmb, etc.). im not sure if that makes any difference on the resolution stated but it could be deceiving. Please comment if you have anything to add. im always up for learning something new.

It's possible that it is just a large picture; since the window at the bottom seems to be a video; but in every picture, the person in the video is in the same position. Along with the clock widget that does not seem to change.
Maybe it's on pause, who knows...
she sure is nice, pointing out the screen for us.

Why are people so concerned with hdcp when nothing really requires it yet? Obviously microsoft doesnt care too much about with their hd-dvd player since you can only use component or VGA on the 360. If movies came out in hdcp that player would be useless unless they came out with an hdmi cable.
Flambe @ Dec 19th 2006 11:00AM
I'm glad the model's pointing at it, or else I wouldn't know where to look.
KakaduDreamer @ Dec 19th 2006 11:31AM
Does the girl come with it?
chedabob @ Dec 19th 2006 12:25PM
Why does Korea get all these awesome gadgets? Thats the most gorgeous LCD ive ever seen, and the sooner Samsung start shipping these to US and UK, at that price, the better.

Would you believe that Vista runs just fine on a 15 inch CRT? It does and it's not even certified.
Goobimama @ Dec 19th 2006 2:53PM
One thing I've noticed, these monitors look HUGE in front on these tiny little japanese models. We could have a better understanding of its size with maybe a 6 foot tall beer drinking guy...
bungsana @ Dec 19th 2006 6:50PM
not that i necessarily disagree with you, but shes korean. also, for all we know she could be a 6' tall jolly green giant. dont buy into the stereotype that ALL asian women are small. just the majority.
miguelon918 @ Dec 19th 2006 3:06PM
And i need a certified windows vista premium lcd monitor for???...
