Wiimote + RC car = authentic Excite Truck
Sure, controlling your cursor with a Wiimote is certainly novel, and inflicting damage upon your aging television set is soothing in a dark, twisted sort of way, but driving a remote-controller vehicle around the yard with your Wii controller really puts Excite Truck to shame. Joining the growing list of "things a Wiimote can do," the device can now control the forward, reverse, left, and right controls of a remote controlled vehicle sans wires -- well, aside from the presumably complicated computer rig off the side, that is. Apparently, the Bluetooth module within the Wiimote conveys its signals to a laptop, which then passes the movements via a serial port to the actual remote, which in turn beams up the vehicle with instructions. So if you're tired of seeing just how much fun folks who aren't getting knocked around by their Wiimotes are having, take a peek behind the plastic and get your own hack on after hitting the read link for some video action.[Thanks, Kevin]

I'm still waiting for someone to make a hack to have the Wiimote control a robot assassin.

well the only thing you could control is the sword motions

Just what the Wiimote needs: more ways to inflict damage :)

I hope they can do something with model planes!

While mildly impressed, I'm not nearly as impressed as I was at first when I thought they'd hacked the RC receiver to accept the Wiimote signals.
Actually now that I think about it, I bet there would be a decent market for a commercial "Wiimote Signal Converter".

Don't RC cars already come with remotes? E.g., Remote Controled cars?? Aside from the "because we can" philosiphy, I don't see how this is better than the original.
Show me the Wiimote controlling a real car, ala MythBusters, then I'll be impressed.

It's seems better because instead of moving two joysticks back and forth, you can move a physical object and see it translated through a car, the whole philosophy behind the wiimote.

It looks like he's using the laptop t convert it into a signal the 2-stick remote can accept for a buddy box, nice idea
and that aint a piece of crap rc car, that's a hobby class rc car, upgraded too, very quick
not some crappy toy class rc car looks like that rc car can reach goo 15-25 mph according to the acceleration
300 dollars for that rc car/ remote combo not including wiimote... he kows what he's doing lol

Ya, I couldn't agree more. That takes a lot of skill to convert something like that into a wii remote. This rc car is pretty crazy and I just have to say congrats on making it - very skilled and talent person to pull off something like this. I wonder what it's like to drive an RC car with a Wii remote lol
