Fujitsu previews LifeBook P7230
In between all the previously announced laptops and the less-than-fresh concept models Fujitsu showed off at recent a event in Signapore was this brand new entry to its LifeBook 7000 series, the P7230. Unfortunately, the model name's about all we know at this time, other than that it was designed by Fujitsu's Cheif Designer Kenichi Kimura, the very same man behind those aforementioned concept laptops, and that it'll supposedly be available "soon." If the earlier entries in the 7000 line are any indication, however, you can probably expect the P7230 to be heavy on portability and battery life but relatively light on power -- them's the breaks of an ultraportable, after all.[Via Laptoping]

See the gap between the screen and the keyboard? That's ugly. If you're gonna copy the Macbook, go take a look how the screen folds out to close the gap, and also is used to reflect sound waves. Apple is so ingenious, these guys are posers.
Oh, btw, these things can't run OS X.

> See the gap between the screen and the keyboard? ... Apple is so ingenious, these guys are posers.
Thats a shortcoming of the Macbook, it's screen can only open up to some 130 degrees. I hope this screen opens up to 180 degrees.
> Oh, btw, these things can't run OS X.
Actually it CAN, but Apple would not allow it - there's a difference BIG difference.

I just bought a p7120 in september and now im glad i did. I see they decided to put fans back in the P7000 series which would have been a deal breaker for me

Of course people are saying "MacBook copy", but I think it looks classier than a MacBook... less simply - and more elegant. I like the striking edges and thin gap between the body and the display.

I have two Fujitsus... a p7010d and a p1510. Their builds are pretty good and they talk a good game when it comes to support, but the actual execution of the support is fair at best. Really unfortunate considering their design work in the ultra-portable category.
If the P1610 ran OSX I'd be in heaven... it's a long way to a 15" MBP.

the fujip series has been around for a long time now. i have a four year old p1120 that is still my primary computer because it is insanely portable. the build quality is top notch, the machine has endured countless drops and bangs and keeps ticking. if you need additional support, Portable One is kind of a specialist in the P series, and will treat you and your machine fantastic. highly highly recommended, they know their stuff.
as for "apple is so ingenious," it only took them what, four, five years to start thinking of ultra portables? we still have yet to see the result. fucking fanboys. same shit with the ipod. apple has never been first to do anything, including their os's, which are largely borrowed from other good ideas. the fanaticism and subservience apple get's is recoculous.
