You can add Japan's prolific Elecom to the growing number of companies providing varying levels of protection for the countless theft-attracting iPods being toted about, with the company bringing some familiar security measures to bear on the problem. Available for both 5G iPods and 1st and 2nd gen iPod nanos, and in your choice of black or white, the locks will add a bit of heft to your otherwise portable device but should keep any would-be thieves from running off with it, not to mention yourself when you forget the combination. Where are people leaving their iPods that they need to be locked down? I'm pretty sure that even the largest iPod will fit in a pocket or purse. I can understand locking down your laptop in a library so you can make trips to the bookshelf or bathroom, but if you have to leave your post, why not just slip the iPod in your pocket? Added plus: tuneage at the urinal!

this world is unbelievable, we are banning use of these at crosswalks and now we are making locks for them, i now they are a little pricey and are high tech, but unless you strap them to your feet and you hover and get around, and they weigh over 10 pounds, you don't need this at all. this is what some idiots will buy because it seems "practical" but it will just sit in their office or on their dresser and never use it, and just like BAMF said, where are you going to leave it, or go that you cant just put it in your pocket. and how easy that little wire would snap? waist of time don't you think?

i had mine stolen from my hotel room, i wish ihad put it back in my bag, instead of trusting the hotel to my ipod in their drawer. next to my bag of food, and some pens and paper i had brought for a class trip. it really ticked me off!

Some wire cutters would make that pretty useless. Heck, I bet a pair of scissors could cut through that tiny cable. Not that anyone should miss an iPod, they are such terrible media players in comparison with other options these days.

Unless this is an identical item made by a competing company, I have been seeing these for months in the back of MacWorld magazine. There is even a lock-box type thing using the same locking mechanism.
