HP leaks Santa Rosa laptop specs aplenty

HP has already (indirectly) let out word of Santa Rosa upgrades to a couple of its business laptops, but it doesn't look to be stopping there, with details on a number of new Santa Rosa-based consumer laptops now also leaking out. Those getting the upgrade in this batch include the HP Pavilion DV2500, DV6500, and DV9500, along with the HP Compaq Presario V3000 and V6000. None of them are exactly on the ultra portable side of things, with screens ranging form 14 to 17 inches, along with 1.6GHz T5450, 1.8GHz T7100, or 2.0GHz T7300 processors, and integrated Intel GMA X3100 graphics on all but the Pavilion DV9500, which gets a slightly more powerful NVIDIA GeForce 8400M with 256MB of dedicated RAM. As all the information is coming from leaked product manuals, there's no word on pricing or availability, but we'd expect that to be coming from HP before too long.

That's quite an interesting place to put the track pad... personally i like it between my hands when I'm typing rather than under one of them.

Your not looking close enough. It is in between, that keyboard has a number pad.

Damn! I was saving up to buy a HP PAVILION DV6291 EA T7200 - 2ghz. and now i am confused - should i go for it or should i wait for the 2.0GHz T7300. Is the diff in features that great???

I own a HP dv9000 laptop, as gorgeous as the 17" wide screen is, and as vast as the features and accessories might be (no less than two remotes, and digital freeview adaptor and aerial)... the right shift key is tiny and in the wrong place.
If you do any form of coding, you'd hate this laptop. I mentioned it to HP support and they suggested I buy a USB keyboard, what a great idea for portability... mmhmmm.

I am buying one on may 9th, I have a Dv9000 now that is getting returned I am getting my with 2 100gb 7200 rpm drives Vista Ultimate and 1680 x 1050 Display. This computer is awesome, you get used to the shift key. I love everything about this laptop, I just want faster booting times and faster launching times which Santa Rosa will provide. I just don't understand why HP won't increase the Maximum memory to 4gb that is my only compaint with this laptop.

You probably won't get faster boot and launch times with this laptop. It doesn't take advantage of Santa Rosa's NAND "Turbo Memory". I think the Lenovo T61 is the only laptop that does right now.
