Apple MacBook line gets spec bumps
Looks like there's some new hardware at Apple today after all. MacBooks now start at 2.0GHz with 1GB of memory, 80GB drives, 802.11n (of course), and run up to 2.16GHz if configured or in black. They're still on that 667MHz FSB though, indicating that they haven't yet moved to Intel's Santa Rosa platform (which we'd expect the MacBook Pro to have done first anyhow). On Apple today for the usual $1,100 in white, and $1,500 in black.

Oh c'mon, you must have had an inkling updates were on the way - you're posting on a gadgets blog!
There's a two week grace period -- you've had a month. Something would need to go 'wrong' for them to take it back after that amount of time.
Wow... you rounded up the starting price of 939.26 to 999.00? Generally if it's under 950, if anything you'd round down to 900, not up.
On top of that, you also failed to include the upfront 100 dollar rebate that is included without any forms etc, bringing the starting price down to 839.26.
Why upgrade to home premium? Basic does the job just as well, so save the 35 bucks. Moreover, what's the point of a three year warranty when statistically, most component failures happen within the first 90 days of use, and normally no later then 12-18 months after purchase date. Beyond that, 85 percent of all equipment failure is caused by the user, which isn't covered by the extended warranty anyway. People who buy 3 year warranty's the same people who get conned into purchasing the instore replacement plan.
A call to Hp confirms that the memory is of the 667mhz variety, same as the macbook. No word on battery life seeing how it's a brand new unit, but seeing how it's a six cell pack that's running on the latest centrino package with improved power management, it's safe to say it will last longer then the battery in the macbook.
All said and done, without the bogus snake skin 3 year warranty, I'm still coming up with a price of 1076.29 not including the educational rebate. Shipping on both systems is free, so that's not really worth mentioning. Like I said, comparatively built, that's still more then 20 dollars cheaper then the Macbook. You could even go ahead and upgrade to Vista Home Premium, and it would still be only 10 dollars more expensive then the upgraded but still outdated Macbook. Bigger screen and better keyboard too, but that's really a personal pref thing.
I'm done arguing with you about this, as your mac-fanboyness just reeks. I busted you on your lack of including the price of the Applecare warranty in your first post, which you neither addressed nor batted an eye at. You rounded up prices, forgot to include free rebates, and tried to tote the value of home premium and iLife, both of which are purely subjective and pointless in this comparison as I already pointed out in my previous post. You're a fanboy, you're going to see what you want to see, and no amount of logic is going to convince you otherwise. I've got a home built windows pc and mac mini, both of which I really couldn't be happier with, especially after I upgraded the pathetic specs of the mini myself. OSX is fine too, but it's not better then Vista in any other department besides personal preference. Both are improvements over previous versions, both are shiny and pretty. Vista does games better, OSX does itunes and some media better, who cares?
Anyway, I called you out on your bs numbers and said my piece, I'm done.
Hey I called Apple, and they gave me $100. I bought my MacBook 3 weeks ago.
So are you just a pathological liar or something?
"I busted you on your lack of including the price of the Applecare warranty in your first post, which you neither addressed nor batted an eye at"
Um, yeah, your either lying or just plain blind. Look again at my first post, conveniently on this very page. Whats that thing I list right below the remote on the MacBook? Oh, riiiight its the AppleCare warranty. Nice try though.

I didn't round anything, i got the price directly from their website, click on the link or on this picture if you don't believe me
PROOF THAT JOHNNYCASHAK IS A LIAR
Also note that the 2500t does NOT include a $100 rebate, the 2000t model does, and maybe you can try and price that one under a MacBook, but thats not the model YOU mentioned in your post.
So yeah, if wanting to report accurate information makes me a fanboy well you know what? I'm perfectly fine with that.
You want to use a PC, fine use a PC. Want to use a Mac? Fine use a Mac. But if you are going to try and lie about how much cheaper PC's are because you are too insecure to admit you like PC's better or something, then you dude have some serious serious issues. Now i suggest you go back to doing your homework before you get grounded. Leave the discussions to the grown ups.
One last thing though... weight.
Macbook weighs 5.1 lbs
Hp weighs 5.39 lbs
Hmmm... .29 lbs, yeah that really makes a difference, if you're a gutless weakling of a human being maybe. I could tell you were stretching to out argue me on this one, but somehow I missed that last little jab somehow on my first read through. I'm guessing the added weight comes from the larger screen and tougher chassis. Hey, .29 lbs more, I'm pretty sure even Professor Hawkings can lift that much.
Hmm, looks like it doesn't like HTML, oh well, here is the link to the picture that proves you are a liar:
