Futuristic Denon Blu-ray player / receiver concept
Denon isn't typically known for throwing out any futuristic pieces of AV luxury, rather, it tends to side with the more traditional, classy look. Of course, there's always a first time for everything, and while we're highly doubtful that this supposed Denon rendering will actually come to fruition, it certainly is a sight to behold. The two-piece kit consists of a rumored DVD-HD8910 Blu-ray player up top, with a 2TB AVR-HD8910 media center / receiver below. The 7.1-channel box also claims to handle iTunes music files and offer a direct connection to the iTMS, and while it's understandably simple to brush this all off as a fanboy's fantasy, Denon's no stranger to stuffing unusual extras in uncommon places.

Fugly, say what?

It is rather strange looking. But its Denon, so you know if they made it, it would be a nice piece of gadgetry. I hope they have some sort of HD-DVD player in the works as well.

Well... i think that...is...hot... :)

If you are going to make your dot-matrix display larger, at least have the common decency to have it comprised of more pixels per inch and use a better font. I'm buying a Denon here people, not an AIWA.
Also, more blue led nonsense? Lets light up the whole room...

looks very very very nice. prepare to attain blu-ray nirvana!

i actually think its looks sexy. i love the shapes and the blue is cool aslong as it can be dimmed.
murray @ Jul 13th 2007 1:23PM
It's not really futuristic, is it? Looks pretty much like the current state of modern design. Kinda sexy.

It reminded me of that robot VINCENT from "The Black Hole - 1979"... Just me?

The fact that it's Denon doesn't necessarily mean it'll automatically be great. They've been churning out some stuff just lately that's not up to their past standard. They even make mini systems and micro "lifestyle" systems now!
Samsung make a unit similar to this which is nice, although it doesn't have the Blu-Ray player. It looks a lot like a PS3, too, although I can't recall the model number off the top of my head.

And what does that have to do with a Denon concept?
arcsine @ Jul 13th 2007 2:08PM
Spectacularly bonerific, but about as likely as those photochopped cars from Fark.
NHAnimator @ Jul 13th 2007 2:14PM
Shouldn't that be hxxp://myspacestalker.com?

If you read the AVS Forum thread you will see this is clearly the work of a Denon fan and not from Denon!

It looks nice, but the font's killing me... it really does suck.
Huy @ Jul 13th 2007 4:28PM
Hey, Engadget! When and if you get one of these things in your grimy gadgety hands, how about a giveaway? I have an open spot next to my 3806.

I think it looks ugly, but, that's just me.
mfed3 @ Jul 15th 2007 9:38AM
thats so false, denon is on board with hd dvd. just because the screen is blue doesnt mean its a blu-ray player.
Ducaro @ Jul 28th 2007 11:56PM
have you noticed how a design theme is transferred between industries the moment one gets popular?
This is clearly an apple theme! (thank god its not white!)
I guess now its all about the wow factor with touch interface and increased display text.. that's a no brainer.
