AQUiVO's weatherproof HDTV meets a fire hose blast, survives
Rest assured, we've witnessed our fair share of hardcore devices, and while we've seen fancy LCDs that purport to be waterproof, AQUiVO's IP56-rated weather resistant LCD took one on the chin to prove its claim. The aluminum-framed, completely sealed HDTV was hoisted onto a wall outside, and with little mercy shown, a fire hose blast tried its best to infiltrate the screen. Amazingly enough, the display appeared relatively untouched after its midday shower, and if you've got those skeptical genes, feel free to check out the video for yourself after the break.[Via ShinyShiny]

so if its that well sealed how would it be cooled? would it not overheat?
maybe they hosed it because it was overheating...
Water molecules are bigger than air molecules, so anything thats watertight and not airtight could potentially be cooled with fans like anything else.
If the case is aluminum then they are using the case as one giant heat sink.
Water cooling ;P
Finally something that may be able to withstand the wrath of the runaway Wiimotes!
Very smart move! There are so many people in the U.S., especially on the west coast, who spend thousands to create outdoor living spaces. Now they can hook up a plasma and watch tv outside or have parties with the tv on and not worry about it getting killed by the weather. Now the only question is price...
Er... LCD. It's big like a plasma anyway.
West Coast.. how bout here in Florida, we like our outdoor rooms too, and now we can have our TV sustain a CAT 5 Hurricane! Woo woo.. Now if only the screen glass were impact resistant, then it could take the debris too!
You can get it in North America from www.apgdisplays.com. They are in Canada so not sure on pricing.
The waterproofing is not the only thing that's impressive, that fire hose would have a lot of pressure too!! That's a damned strong TV!
In other news, a family of 3 were killed earlier this morning in a residential fire that could not be subdued due to an unusual occurrence of a missing fire hose at the local fire department. Firemen that were apparently bearing large LCD TVs were not commenting on the situation.
