Asus confirms the 8GB 10-inch Eee PC
Asus has been coyly hinting at a spec-bumped Eee PC for a while now, but it looks like the wink-and-nudge days are over -- German Asus spokesman Holger Schmidt said that an 8GB Eee PC with a 10-inch screen would ship in 2008, as well as that equally-rumored but far less sexy desktop Eee. See, sometimes dreams do come true.[Read link is in German]

Hate to be the bearer of bad news (or good news depending on your perspective), but this is an old story that has already been shot down by Asus. Why won't stupid internet rumors die? Seriously?
Asus had originally talked about a 10inch version, then scrapped it. Then we have a German website post details (likely based on the old project), then the forums light up with conjecture, then it filters to other sites (engadget). Then it gets falsified by the company... see link.

A neat policy for the eee PC would IMHO be as follows.
Keep the same dimension of the package and in about 9 months, when LCD prices have fallen, introduce a replaceable larger screen which retrofits the todays eee and also becomes a new model.
This would keep production costs LOW and allow exisiting users to upgrade ad nausea. I think there are 2 types of buyers for the eee. Those who will use it "as is" for 2-3 years. Those who will rip it apart and upgrade everything in sight as almost a cult.
How does this ranking shite work?
well, 7-in or 10-in, as long as ASUS can upgrade from 800 to 1024 horizontal resolution, i won't, IMHO, mind even if it's in current 7-in...
When I look at the so-called 10" 1001 model and compared it with the current 4gb, 7" model I prefer the 4gb, 7" model. It's lighter and smaller and of course cheaper. I look at demo on Youtube and think that 7" screen isn't that all bad. The spec and price is just right.
Keep in mind there's a 16gb version coming too, as seen here: http://www.asuseeepc.com/en/specifications/
I phoned to confirm this and was told it'll be out some time in 2008.
mamamia~this is my New Year's Resolution.
