As is our way sometimes, we happened to stumble upon a pair of photos (read: a source sent us some pictures) claiming to be an unannounced, widescreen PMP from Creative. Kinda like a
Zen or
Vision W, but without the asymmetrical controls on the side. And yep, the
full-screen player looks to be touch-sensitive, and may or may not sport WiFi, which has been a winning combo for
several other devices that we know and love. Check out the other shot after the break.
Update: Certainly does look a lot like a
Cowon Q5 all photoshopped up, innit? Thanks Connor.

Did the "source" say it was touch-sensitive or did you guys get that from the finger next to the screen?
nxtiak @ Dec 30th 2007 8:09PM
Look at the first picture, the person has a Stylus
Derek @ Dec 30th 2007 8:41PM
Well I feel like an idiot....
shamrock593 @ Dec 30th 2007 10:44PM
It might not be a stylus, rather someone 'pinching' the screen..
Charlie Calhoun @ Dec 30th 2007 11:18PM
No, theres a little white thing, in his hand.
rob @ Dec 31st 2007 2:18AM
These pics are just fakes and you guys know it. It's just a generic slab pictured against a uniform background. Cries Phtoshop. You're just turning into rumor mongers.
Zak @ Dec 30th 2007 8:01PM
About time..Now give it 32gb of flash and integrate a memory card slot into the flash memory. Add wifi, internet browser and let it run skype.
It will get my money.
jed @ Dec 31st 2007 7:56PM
you sir, are right on the money. why does no one know this when we all do?
Joseph @ Dec 30th 2007 8:06PM
the 64gb will be standard on the hugh jass signature edition.
404error @ Dec 30th 2007 8:15PM
Same + h264 support = Me too
4honor @ Dec 30th 2007 8:28PM
What you described is exactly what I want, which is why my $400 is still not spent on the iPod Touch... Come on somebody, I want to buy!
fischju @ Dec 30th 2007 10:36PM
Well there is a 4GB 605 with wifi, browser, card slot. And it's being hacked now, an exploit was found that allows for code to be run.
Erik @ Dec 30th 2007 8:03PM
iPod Touch killer that will go unnoticed.
(Sadness)
Joseph @ Dec 30th 2007 8:07PM
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
here comes the waambulance
Senor_Tom @ Dec 30th 2007 8:23PM
waambulance service here, how can i help?
scotjo @ Dec 30th 2007 9:41PM
Creative makes a nice device, but they seem to have trouble finding shelf space at retail. BestBuy does not carry the brand, and that's where my sister and her friends and thousands of other not-so-tech-savvy consumers go to buy their toys. It can't be an iPod killer if people can't buy it easily.
Al @ Dec 30th 2007 11:06PM
Still being sold and Circuit City, Frys, and J and R.
404error @ Dec 30th 2007 11:55PM
Walmart sells some Creative mp3 players, too. My cousin just bought one the other day.
Alan @ Dec 30th 2007 8:04PM
If this IS touch-sensitive, I'm all over it. I've been wondering when Creative would come announce something like this.
nxtiak @ Dec 30th 2007 8:10PM
That's a huge ass screen, better come with some huge ass memory.
I'd get that and sell my Zune 80gb.
dtrain @ Dec 30th 2007 8:38PM
Ah, but why would they put a decent-sized HD in there? We all know that most consumers prefer 8GBs of Flash RAM...even when they're supposed to be watching videos on that gigantic screen. Come on, get with the future...whether it's ready or not!
Senor_Tom @ Dec 30th 2007 8:22PM
no offence meant. But when ever i see some one right, my Zune 80gb, or My iphone, or my ps3 and wii etc. It just reads like they are bragging. Even more so when the caps the words correctly.
computer.dude.28 @ Dec 30th 2007 8:28PM
Hopefully some huge ass battery life too with a screen that size.
Zak @ Dec 30th 2007 8:44PM
Would not say that is bragging? Bragging is more with something worth while?
I own an xbox 360 and a wii and nearly bought me a ps3 when they dropped the price? does that mean I am bragging? No it just means I have more money than sense..or I have no money and thats the reason why because I spend it all on consoles.
:-)
As for the Zune, I nearly bought one on e-bay last night. I live in Japan and cant find one anywhere. He is just stating that he has a zune and would swap it for a creative. Thats like me I have a creative zen vision M the 30gb version. I got it when they first came out, its now full and I want more storage so I looked at the Zune as I didn't want a 60gb zen that looks the same as the one I have.
Senor_Tom @ Dec 30th 2007 8:58PM
that sounded better b/c you were merely stating you owned one, i think its purely the word MY.
amiga_tone @ Dec 30th 2007 11:26PM
I'd be more concerned with power consumption. Either the battery doesn't have much life or that baby is going to cause tumours in your pocket!
;-)
danny @ Dec 31st 2007 1:53AM
Senor_Tom... This is the internet.
We don't know each other. Would anyone ever brag or have a reason to? Nay...
sillyrabbit @ Dec 30th 2007 8:26PM
please pmp gods, dont let this be a photoshop.
Cal @ Dec 30th 2007 8:40PM
Amen to that!
May the Lord bless us with touch-screeny Creative goodness.
JohnTitor @ Dec 30th 2007 9:50PM
you ask me it looks a lot like a Q5W with a logo changed
Syntax Error @ Dec 31st 2007 12:20AM
Amen, brother.
Rk @ Dec 31st 2007 4:15AM
Lmao... PMP Gods! That made my day. Granted it's only 9.15am but still!
cDub @ Dec 30th 2007 8:28PM
Good thing I didn't buy the 8gb Zen today. If this does have an external card slot, hopefully it will be implemented better than in the zen.
St. Stephen @ Dec 30th 2007 8:51PM
very very sweet looking! can't wait to learn more
Brendan @ Dec 30th 2007 8:54PM
for the love of god, stuff a 160gb hard drive in there, make it with the quality of hardware and interface that Creative is usually good for, and sell it for the competitive price point they always seem to achieve, and with some luck it'll knock off the ipod. Hell, I'd switch if they did that.
Just don't expect me to cart around music and movies on a piddly 16 or 32gb of storage.
Constable Odo @ Dec 30th 2007 9:19PM
I have a feeling that hard drives are going the way of the dodo bird for PMPs. It's a pity, but I think they're gearing storage for the average person that does not have a 20,000 song collection. I'm all for hard drives in PMPs, but maybe vendors think that's the one piece of hardware that will cause the most problems. I really wanted an 80 GB or 160 GB iPod touch. It's not gonna happen.
Scott @ Dec 30th 2007 9:01PM
hope i dont regret buying the ipod touch... first non-creative player i've owned.
roole @ Dec 30th 2007 9:21PM
You will, if you are so inclined. It is far better for your mental health to spend some time reflecting on why you bought it in the first place, and whether it gave you all that you thought it did when you purchased it.
abadtooth @ Dec 30th 2007 9:25PM
I would rather get a EeePC for the money, that way I would get much much more for my money!!
PMP's = very much overrated gimmick.
dave @ Dec 30th 2007 10:20PM
not really...
i have a small form factor laptop and it really isnt that awesome for movies on the go. the whole folds-in-half part is the least awesome bit and compared to, say, a cowon a3 its hardly portable. sure my laptops not 7 inches and isnt a eepc but my aforementioned example is not a gimmick, it is overpriced though :(
the a3 looks more awesome than this
aaron @ Dec 30th 2007 9:28PM
Hopefully the person holding it in the second pic has VERY SMALL hands or that thing is HUGE.
tekdroid @ Dec 30th 2007 9:29PM
removable media?
easily swappable battery?
if not, go back to drawing board (and/or Photoshop)
miriya @ Dec 30th 2007 9:55PM
Scotjo, what do you mean Best Buy doesn't carry Creative? My SO bought me the 30 gig version of the Vision M on Creative's site, and liked it so much that we went down to Best Buy and picked him up the same thing. We just got my roommate the 4 gig Zen a few months ago at Best Buy. It's impossible to find accessories for it there, and their shelf space is ridiculously dwarfed by all the ipods, but they are there, unless they've stopped carrying them very recently.
Paul @ Dec 30th 2007 10:43PM
How many will they sell... like two?
MrWhite @ Dec 30th 2007 10:47PM
Regardless of who makes it, that thing is HUGE, I mean is it truely a "portable" media player? I can't see that in my pocket or on my hip, maybe in a back pack, but that defeats the purpose. It's is kind of cool though, kind of.
Dave @ Dec 30th 2007 11:13PM
It's big, but it's not that big. I'd guess that the screen's about 5" diagonal. I probably wouldn't consider anything with a smaller screen for watching movies on the go.
Derek Welty @ Dec 30th 2007 11:40PM
i would buy this
Rohan @ Dec 30th 2007 11:55PM
I call fake, here's why:
Look at the second photo -
1) Look at the level of pixelation around the outer edge of the device, and particularly around the bottom edge and thumbs. There's quite a significant amount of noticable pixelation in the image.
2) Compare that to the pixelation between the video on the screen and the black bezel. Almost no pixelation, very clean anti-aliased lines. Almost as if the video image was overlayed in some extremely powerful image editing software... like say, Photoshop?
DespoticWolf @ Dec 31st 2007 12:24AM
Hey you're ruining it for the rest of us... ill still buy one
Al @ Dec 31st 2007 12:06AM
I wonder what the text says on the side in the second pic. Anyone with some photoshop skill think they can clean it up and zoom in to make it at least a little legible?
