lol...the Apple blogs are ginormous. Have to scroll for a bit till the comments. Happy 2K8!
'Sup Ryan, sorry for all those comments in 2007, let's try to be friends now, I wont be a hater if you promise to be nice, k?
To all the people who are mad that Apple has the majority of the list.
This list is probably based off statistics such as how many posts, jumps, and view it had.
"Posted Dec 31st 2007 11:59PM by Ryan Block"
you couldn't just wait 1 minute ..... until 2008 :)
you know what I noticed?
I noticed you didn't ready a word past the list, not a even the comment
odd, I was replying to i.c. wiener
looks like my thunderbird isn't all it's cut out to be
fanboy much?
this was such a wonderful year for custom computers and gaming in general...
The funny thing is that all the people who detest Apple always seem to find themselves commenting in Apple-related posts--thus driving up the traffic and giving Ryan and co. more reason to post Apple stuff.
Also consider they've had non apple-related posts and people are like,"Cowon !? Why would I buy something nobody(bs) buys when I could have an iPod?"
People like to stir sh*t up.
Very Apple-centric. cool!
I love how Ryan posted this at 11:59PM just to make it in 2007. Happy 08 everyone!
Happy New Year to the writers of Engadget and to all its readers!
Lubov y Mir, Amor y Paz, Alafia ati Ife, Peace and Love to all the striped people on Neptune and beyond - I just want y'all to know that !"*&***(£|| and the Joneses are stoned.
(Enough of this Irish coffee, I think...)
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all fanboys&girls, haters, nerds, geeks, trainspotters, anoraks, hipsters, modders, hackers, early adopters and fence-sitters alike!!!!
Happy New Year!
Complimenti a Tutti
Happy New Year!! Buon 2008......che sia un anno di P@ssione....Mobile :-)
To any of those who seriously believes in Engadget's Apple-worshipping... consider this. If the iPods didn't sell that much, not that much people would be buzzing about iPods.
I will have to say engadget is bias towards apple, which is not something I like but at the same time I will have to I must give 2007 to apple, they did innovate and came out with a more crap but a great many things that’s (if I am being honest) Great. I may not be an apple fan but I must be honest.
I don’t believe this year (2008) will be for apple however.
Remarkable. Beside the Apple binge this has been my favourite blog for 2007, keep it going guys!
> Man, people really seem to like Apple.
I think it's bit different. There is a group of vocal people who like Apple.
On other side, in the passed year, Apple made bunch of new products - and it's only natural that people would react on well advertised something new. *iPhone* *Leopard* Both OS market and mobile market are struggling in innovation department and attention to Apple only natural as people expect something original from big company just entered market. Leopard was huge event - thanks to M$ who's pushipng unfinished Vista by all means into all its available channels.
Reading your sister (or brother? sibling?) site Joystiq in fact showed that Apple fanboyism is not unique: just look at comment sections which are plagued with post of Nintendroids who would suck balls of anything what has "Mario" or "Peach" on it. Compared to them, Apple fanboys are (probably due to age gap) much much more civilized (since it is a fact that lion share of Joystiq commenters are not even reached puberty (or reached - but it was already too late)).
All that iPhone love and it still flopped in the UK.
Yeah, 2007 was pretty good.
To use a word I swore I would never use, but will make an exception, due to Merriam-Webster making it the word of 2007, w00t.
Wishing everyone a good 2008!
I dislike Apple for so many reasons -
http://phugger.wordpress.com/2007/11/28/why-i-dislike-apple/
BUT - Engadget's coverage doesn't bother me. It's not fanboyish.
Digg, on the other hand, is simply horrible, but you can filter out most of the fanboy posts.
Best wishes for another great year Engadget!
That was an epic link.
^5 and good blogging.
do you realize how many of those things are not true or have been fixed.
Of course Apple has made mistakes and will continue to make them.
And I have to just say this: At least you have the option to go to the genius bar when you have problems - much easier than tech support in india. I had the discoloration on my MacBook keyboard and during a regular trip to the mall I dropped it off and 30 minutes later if was fixed for free no questions.
Also how do fanboys matter about the company - hate the fanboys (I realize I'm a fanboy) but don't hate hate Apple -you don't have to love 'em.
It would be nice to see a more charitable apple, tho.

What the heck?!?! Sorry about that. I only clicked once - after i typed me pass incorrectly.

It's not the Apple fans, it's the anti-Apple zeaots going into every Apple story and wasting the little life they have posting about how much they hate Apple.
That's a great list Ryan/Engadget, but how about another one for most commented posts (not giveaways or contests)?
Happy New Year, and keep up the good work.
Maybe it's just that there's more Apple news to 'print' than most other companies... considering that Apple doesn't release information about their new products, Engadget posts rumours about the new products and then later adds or removes from it, and so on... it's not like it's a matter of preference. If you look at say, a cooking blog. Just because they post more articles about cottage pie than meat loaf, it doesn't mean they're cottage pie fanboys (Although that would be amusing).
I own PC's running XP & Vista.
I also own an old iMac and a macbook
I think PC's have + & - points
I think Macs have + & - points
I enjoy using both and like hearing about new gadgets coming out for either.
Why does everyone have to divide themselves one way or the other ?
Why not just put on football tops and go have a fight after saturdays game.
If you really have such a need to tribalise your life and identify yourself with other people who use the same brand of gadget/computer as you do you would be better off starting some private members club where you all chant anti M$/Apple chants and get drunk.
Gadget and technology web sites are for people who love gadgets all gadgets, Apple has just been releasing some nice stuff over the past 2 years, so wise up and stop branding yourself with what computer you use it is incredibly childish and stupid.
What you people don't get it that Apple had a huge year and sooooo many people hate and love Apple - that's caring both ways.
If you hate something you must know why you hate, right? So the Apple haters also read these posts. Any reasonable debater knows both sides of the argument.
Look how many comments are about Apple - like this one. People care (that includes negative hate.) about Apple, they're huge right now. They've made big news.
Also in defense of Engadget (and no offense Ryan) but remember (In may/June I think) Engadget posted the story the Leopard could have been delayed past Oct. It dropped Apple's stock $4. If Engadget loved Apple so much they would have posted a story that could do some damage. I'm not blaming Ryan for that-he had legit reasons to post it, but if there was such a bias toward Apple, then why would some post something so ominous.
15 of the 20 most trafficked posts of 2007 were at least somewhat related to Apple. Now that's what I call biased. ;)
Why would you say "Man, people really seem to like Apple."
I read Apple posts not because I like Apple, but because I like reading the comments in their posts, which are almost always entertaining. This doesn't mean I like Apple or their shitty products, so don't say I like Apple. Thanks.
Too much Apple, I think I'm going to VOMIT!
that bulshiet i know the zune posts were up there pretty high
All you dumbasses whining about Apple occupying the top spots in that list have only yourselves to blame. Do you not understand what this list indicates? It's a list of the "most read articles" on Engadget. That means if you don't read them they won't show up on lists like this. But please keep crying about it and continuing to read the articles about Apple at the same time, because your hypocrisy is delicious. Otherwise, feel free to stop reading the articles about Apple.
Or, you know, just whine about it some more. Would you suggest that Engadget stop reporting on Apple despite the overwhelmingly obvious fact that Apple articles are by far the most popular articles on the site? Sure, that would be smart.
