E-Lead's Noahpad gets official, enters ring with Eee PC
Remember that curious Noahpad UMPC we peeked just as 2007 was coming to a close? Turns out, E-Lead Electronics has finally gotten around to making an official announcement about it, and it will unsurprisingly be debuting at CES. This 7-inch UMPC will indeed utilize the firm's own human machine interface (HMI), and while pricing wasn't provided down to the penny or anything, it will be "within range" of Asus' Eee PC for obvious reasons. Oh, and E-Lead apparently recommends hanging it around your neck while jogging -- now there's a concept.

Of course, I always wanted a UMPC to hang over that clothes hanger above my kitchen sink.
James Ollier @ Jan 5th 2008 3:48PM
And don't forget to tuck that neckstrap under your collar!
Kozzi @ Jan 5th 2008 4:24PM
I think it's their way of advertising "waterproof".
BigD @ Jan 5th 2008 3:40PM
Their sales pitch should be:
Noahpad...you can hang this b*tch anywhere!
Lord John Whorfin @ Jan 5th 2008 3:42PM
They should call it GhettoPad!
ScareyJ @ Jan 5th 2008 4:40PM
Kinda like in "The Jerk" movie where people went cross eyed from the eye glass attachment ... I see en epidemic of people with bent necks from this being around their neck. It looks like it might be pretty cool, but the ad pictures are a trip.

Is that lead as in leader, or lead as in the substance?
Alan Partridge @ Jan 5th 2008 3:57PM
Hes not jogging, he's power walking.. in style!
BobTurbo @ Jan 5th 2008 9:14PM

wow, a PC around your neck? How soon it take before you get a neck problem?

dude , 100,s of millions of students have backpack slung around thier neck, and this weighs less than some text book
Robert @ Jan 5th 2008 4:14PM
I really wonder about their "touch" keyboard.
I like the eeePC for actually being able to use it on coach on airplanes, but wish they could come up with a better keyboard, I can't imagine not having tactile response.
KC chen @ Jan 8th 2008 2:41AM
The touch pads do have tactile response. I have seen it in CES. The touch pad is actually built on a button. Press the pads will press the the button under to get tactile response.
OneLove @ Jan 5th 2008 4:18PM
cant wait to get my hands on those "dual large touch pads".
asphixiated @ Jan 5th 2008 4:38PM
what the hell?! i don't care how light/waterproof this thing is, as long as its anything biggger than cellphone sized, i am NOT carrying that around my neck.
asphixiated @ Jan 5th 2008 4:39PM
also, i like how that one guy is using his laptop as an mp3 player... while jogging.
elithemicrowave @ Jan 5th 2008 5:07PM
They better include a coat hanger after all these press release shots...
Joshua Walters @ Jan 5th 2008 6:08PM
Im shopping around for a nice portable laptop.
My question is, how much will this cost me? I mean, I have a smart phone, and unless I can get something for $200-250, I mine as well continue using my smart phone.
I know I can get a Eee for about that, and Im thinking about it, I just want to see what other options come available in the near future (besides, I still have to buy a 360 first)
Jonathan Bergeron @ Jan 5th 2008 6:42PM
i think that dude is doing a little power walking, not jogging.
bob @ Jan 6th 2008 1:13AM
actually i think you,ll find he is about to do the one inch punch
Beatnik @ Jan 6th 2008 6:25AM
Well, the concept is interesting.
I think this could be compared with the Everex Cloudbook better than Asus EEE, because both have 30GB HDD.
My question: Which of those 3 (Asus EEE, Cloudbook and Noahpad) would you buy and Why?
