Video: eCoupled not demoing its wireless power system

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
maybe i'll start posting some really degrading shit about Veronica to stop her face from appearing on every damn article.
I agree, her exposure here has quadrupled over the past week,
but that's not necessarily a bad thing. She's becoming the new face of gadgetism.
The only problem is only really sexy gadgets like the iPhone can stand out against her.
Seriously, this dreamy-bedroom-eyes-picture totally washes away whatever she's got in her hand.
What I am worried about is that basically Ryan is pimping Veronica to attract more geeks.
Fair deal. But what happens if Ryan and Veronica fall out with one another?
Will 50% of us move our reading clientele to Mahalo, or will she start a new blog,
VERONICADGET.COM ??
"but that's not necessarily a bad thing."
Yes, it is. Some of us would prefer to read about technology without attracting the neogaf type crowd of people who have an attention span of a sugar high 4 year old.
I think it's a shameless attempt at either self promotion or image projection to make her the "booth babe" of tech.
Dude, Ryan, we get it. She's your girlfriend. What are you trying to prove?
This was my entirely my decision to cover and it's my name on the post -- why do you think for one second that Ryan had anything to do with it? Do you really think he has the power to tell me what to do besides not spell things wrong?
No, Nilay, but what made you post the item, the gadget...or the girl..hmmm?
Of course Nilay. Being the editor-in-chief, Ryan doesn't have the power to control your content. Right.
I'm sure all you Engadget writers just woke up last week and independently got the idea to use the phrase "Mahalo Daily's Veronica Belmont", purely by accident.
You really got to stop using...after the break. lol.
Veronica... can I ask you out on a date? No, really.
No. Really.
It's like a sine wave! "Veronica's hot... too much Veronica... Veronica's hot... no she's not..."
I think that after CES, there should be a new Engadget meme. If there's a different girl touting some new gadget, "where's Veronica?" If it's her again, "There's Veronica!"
Will someone please let me know when there's a VB fan site?
I'd like to shower it with comments about gadgets.
cheers
She actually looks like my sister. So no: She's not hot. Admitting she might be for other guys. So that settles the matter once and for all! ;)
Look, she's a human being, not an object of desire, and she has feelings - she's tired. That doesn't make her sexy. Oh, I see. Yes, I get it now. Dreamy eyes changing mind. Can't resist. Must keep principles. Must search feelings for feminist side. AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh. It's no use. She's just too pretty... too dreamy.
SHE's HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
Oh my. Mustn't forget pills tomorrow.
...Who is this Veronica girl, and why such a following? Sorta cute, sure, but not ZOMG MUST MAKE COMMENT ABOUT HER HOTTTNESS!!!!1 She seems pretty normal to me.
Ah, never mind, I know where she hails from now. Thank you Wikipedia!
Engadget common, this looks so unproffesional to put Veronica on a lot of articles about new gadgets just to make us readers happy. Veronica is most of the time 10 times more visible in the image then the gadget itself.
Thats what I feel about it too. I feel a bit manipulated here. She is beautiful. But why do you engadget guys have to exploit that in such a obvious way ?? maybe the photographer is doing it in an unconscious way.... Im mean I can understand...all those gadgets become totally uninteresting next to such a woman. But this site is for gadgets right ??
So stay focused !
OK, I see pros and Veronicons here.
How about engadget makes an opt-in-opt-out function, jut like with Apple news.
Those who think Belmont's hot can opt to see ONLY posts involving her.
Those who think Belmont's not can opt to see everything that DOESN't involve her.
everyone say Aye?
Lets be honest she is average looking. Yes she likes or pretends to like gadgets and gets a lot of face time since Ryan is editor, but back to reality. There are millions of girls who look like her. She isn't any better looking than most of the women in my town.
Average not above, not below.
I am sure we will be seeing a lot less of her when CES is over. Hopefully. I think its funny that Nilay comes off over defensive of Ryan to the point where it looks like Ryan said "hey can you take a hit for me." Transparent. Look Ryan no one gives a $hit about your girl but you. The site would be popular with or without her. I suppose this is your first girlfriend and you have never had anything average before, but enough showcasing. She is one in a million. Literally.
I really don't understand what people are trying to say.
Veronica shouldn't report on technology because she has good genes? Engadget shouldn't use her pictures in articles because it's exploiting her? Or exploiting readers who can't look at a picture of a girl without saying they want to have sex with her?
Why is it OK for an unattractive male to lend their image and personality to their artiles and not an attractive female? No one reads Walt Mossberg's blog and complains about the Wall Street Journal using a typical nerdy-looking white guy; and responses to his posts aren't derailed by talk of his appearance instead of whatever technology the original post was about.
Grow up, people, seriously. You're just confirming the stereotypes of technology enthusiasts as sad losers who couldn't attract girlfriends if their lives depended on it.
like the stereotype of dorks using a Simpsonized versions of themselves as avatars all the time? Thats you.
I didn't say I wanted to have sex with her.
Did I say I wanted to have sex with her?
No, I didn't say that.
Did I?
Why do you have to have a person in the image at all?
Why do you have to have a person in the image at all?
@Veronica is average: Oh, you got me with a zinger there. I'm shaking!
Forget 'Veronica's barely concealed boredom' how about her barely concealed booty!
Yes, that's a joke you depraved nuts - she's getting a little bit ubiquitous to be honest.
dale "@Veronica is average: Oh, you got me with a zinger there. I'm shaking!"
Another geek thing to say. "I'm shaking" what a ahole.
LESS PIX OF V-RON, MORE OF NILAY PATEL PLZ
WTH, no demo? These guys need to get it together for next time. I would love to have wireless charging power... NOW NOW NOW!
BTW, VB is a dime piece... Stop hatin'!
Gonna have to disagree with you all on this one. I respect your points, but if they keep posting pictures of Veronica, I'll agree not to notice for now.
fo-shizzle!
need more veronica? http://www.cnettv.com/9742-1_53-28673.html
I wondered why there weren't as many videos recently. I see now, you have worn poor Veronica out!! Give the girl a break.
There's a name for real wireless power... I believe they call it "lightning" ;)
