Leaked Dell laptop brings the sexy

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I wouldn't mind XP though.
Newer isn't always better? Why would you think that?
I hear KDE4 performs better on equivalent hardware than KDE 3.5.8. FF3 is getting native theming which should improve performance by a ton... And now xorg-xserver is putting all their effort into making xorg.conf obsolete-- plus the fact that ati and intel have thrown their weight behind open source GPU drivers... Ubuntu Hardy should be awesome; the only thing holding Gutsy back was the old xorg it used and the ugly theme.
When I see a new release of something, I'm ecstatic.
It is running XP because any good PC runs XP (well, at least me and my gaming PC)
Dell doesn't want to mar this wonderful machine with Vista...
It's also running an ancient version of Adobe Premiere, if anybody noticed.
Well I'm leaning toward being fake because not only does it show Luna window frames it has a Win98 taskbar. And the glare of the screen is wrong.
This picture appears to be a 90% successful photochop.
It is most likely an unbranded ODM prototype that wasn't turned on. Some eager beaver added a desktop image and created piss-poor glare to represent a lit display and slapped a Dell logo on there with an extra layer of light source to shine the logo. Also pay attention the the right bottom corner of the screen. The shadows don't line up along the right or bottom edges of the frame agains thte screen.
Engadget shouldn't put "leaked" when it's a fake. Usually Engadget discourages rumor-mongering. You guys know better.
Plus, I remember seeing an image of an Acer prototype like this about a year ago when LED backlighting was the big design buzz. Can't remember where it was but I'm sure someone else here will have a saved image or link to it.
I think I'm losing faith in Engadget here if they're going to start pushing out photochops from random forums as news.
Sure its thin, but judging by the space around the keyboard, that thing is a 15.4", so it will still be pretty big, and probably pretty heavy. Dell needs something in its consumer lineup smaller than the m1330.
Maybe it's one of those fancy new 16" displays.
That looks like a Latitude D830 but thinner.
Can anyone guess on a price, with the materials and screen specs it might not be that cheap, and would like to end my dreams here.
You had me at "aluminum extrusion."
oh please oh please oh please include an 8600gt or better at 5.5lbs or less... i will buy 1 for myself and advertise it to everyone i know
looks similar to my hp dv1000
i like this design
haha i still find it funny that xp is on the best computers
why is it running XP?
What, would you have prefered Vista?
Does it come with Dell's trademark hard plastics and overall poor build quality I've experienced with my lemon law'd 1520?
if you RTFA, you'd know that no, it doesnt.
Dell's bringin sexy back. And Finally after the creation of the world's fugliest laptop aka the Dell XPS M1730
this doesn't look at all like the macbook. [might revise that tomorrow]
it looks a LOT like the FUJI Finepix Z1 camera.
I like it, but my nearly-new D830 for home and my not-too-old D820 for work tell me I won't be seeing one anytime soon... And who cares if it looks like a Mac, Vista looks like Mac and it sux.
ah, and I just bought the m1330. I can't decide which is sexier. Though the m1330 is a 13.3", which is a definite plus for me.

I thought it was the next DV1000 by HP.
Looks like HPs from fall of about 2 years ago.
Wow. beautiful.
Define Sexy...
Wow, some dude makes a rendering few years ago when adobe premiere pro was launched and you drool over it after so much time...
This is what you're looking for http://www.cheaplaptops.org.uk/dell-16-inch-display-xps-concept-laptop-seen-at-ces-notebook-review/
that looks like one of those really fugly sony notebooks. Dell's always been pretty bad with design, but not that bad...
Reminds me of those HP laptops a few years ago...
Why does it remind me of A Macbook Pro and a Sony VAIO laptop combined??
Dell should die... their designs sucked for the pass thousand years and over priced.... seriously... Tablet for >3000 thats slower then HP's tx1000 at maximum config and costing 1,200... and now they're copying deigns from other companies... they should get a life.
Looks like a black MacBook Pro. Similar to what they did with their previous Inspiron notebooks which looked like oldergen TiBooks. Unless Apple update their entire MBP line it looks like they're going to get caught up in the design race. use of CFRP (if it's real CFRP) might make this even lighter. Dell's really starting to rev. up their design work now, it's great to see them go at it so aggressively more so these days.
Fewer eye sores make for a better world. Better late than never, Dell...
PS any Mac fanboy would know that this Dell design looks nothing like the MBP. Clearly, the designers would know about and be influenced by the best laptop designs, e.g. Apple and Sony. But what they came up with is sufficiently different to say it's not a knock-off.
And this one looks finer than many things coming out of HP, Acer, or Asus these days so good for Dell. Let's hope it's a whole product line and not a one-off.
Apple, where's the black MacBook Pro???
It really does not like a DELL lap, with its most copy'in parts of Apple's MBP! If this fool designed lap came into truth, that would mean DELL claims he is a COPY-man of Apple, and what a shame to DELL!! So, we think that it's only a kind of stupid fanboy's dreaming pic, and the so-called sexy is a full jam in DELL's shoe, while the new XPS M1530 is more sexy!
Testing
Who wants to buy my MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz for $1500? Frack Apple. I already want this more. And the icing is the infinitesimally better warranty behind the product.
It is clearly a fake as DELL can never make something that elegant and styled .
If its not that by the size I'd guess it their latest invention , 18" screen wide notebook .
I'll take 2 please .
It's a fricking Dell. Who gives a shit as it will probably fall to pieces within a week of ownership & Dell will do their usual trick and refuse any warranty repair on it.
It does look like it has more space on both sides of the keyboard, I'd say if it isn't the new 16", it must be 17", but then again, looks a little smaller than a 17" laptop...
The Green VW Beetle in the picture makes me want to buy this crap...
It's pretty sexay, no matter that it's a Dell. I'd buy that for a dollar!
