HTC Shift finally ships in Europe, still nowhere to be found in the US
The oft-postponed HTC Shift is finally hitting Europe today, about two months later than expected after the update we got in December, and even further from its original November 2007 release date. If you're out that way, you can snag yourself one in Spain through Telefonica, UK through Orange, and, in the near future, Italy through TIM -- all for €1,199 (~$1,750 US). As for us in the US of delay? The wait continues.

Holy Hell what an oxymoron that makes sense.

Difference is that *this* is actually an UMPC.

You might be confusing the MacBook Air as some sort of standard in pricing and functionality, when actually it is an overpriced toy.

At least it finally made it out. Too bad it's so over-priced, it needs to be sub-$1000 to actually survive beyond a few purchases. Maybe HTC should have looked into pricing schemes before they even pursued this project. I want one, but there's no way in Hell I'm gonna drop that kind of cash on a laptop when I can get two for that same figure. Guess I'll be waiting a bit...

They are probably afraid of facing Engagdet's wrath.

Spoke to Orange in the UK today. First woman knew nothing about it and the second woman said that it failed testing last week and so isn't on release yet. It's in its second testing phase and it won't be generally released until its passed.

To be fair, if the MacBook Air is an overpriced toy, and the Shift (which i am very intrigued about) is the same price. you would expect the same performance, however, the MacBook air is far superior in terms of specification. i know the shift is smaller that the air, however is the smaller size of the shift, enough to warrent the loss in power? also i believe the shift features Windows Vista as its OS. i personally dont get on with vista. is this product really worth the cash?
I owned a TyTn but it died when i took it up a mountain... I am trying to determine what machine i should go for next.
