Raon Digital's netbook gets official, goes by Everun Note
It's with an indescribable amount of stifled jubilation that we bring to you yet another netbook: Raon Digital's Everun Note. Made official today in South Korea, the previously AMD-branded rig will feature a 7-inch LCD (1,024 x 600), Windows XP Home, your choice of an 80GB hard drive or 12GB SSD, a 1.2GHz AMD Turion CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, integrated WiFi / Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, a 1.3-megapixel camera, an SD / MMC card slot and a decent array of ports for the size. Going by the papers, it'll last around 2.5 hours when surfing the web, and while a price is eluding us just now, expect it to emerge shortly as it arrives in North America next month.

Woah! That thing is small.
Thats what she said!

And Bender reply's "Whooooooooooooo"
When I have to ADD an ethernet module to get to a wire network, I lose faith in this. Maybe the price will be right, who knows. And most netbook users are using wirless besides the fact so it really isn't that bad.
That doesnt bother me. Im sure these things will be wireless 99% of the time. If you dont like that then you are free to buy a different laptop.
no express34 slot :/
but if there's room to hack in some G3 internet I think I would be pleased.
Lovely netbook that would make a great companion on trips abroad and long journeys. 2.5hour life time for surfing is inadequate, watching a movie will probably drain the battery in no time. An optional high capacity battery should do the trick though.
Is that an external battery?
actually, it seems to be a power brick/expansion box, similar to the voodoo envy. If you check out the read link they mention a expansion slot and put the following:
"Expansion Slot
2xUSB host, 1 x USB mini, 1x mini PCIExpress Slot, USIM card slot &l"
Uh, those are the ports on the side of the main unit.
Are you sure? I didn't see an express card slot or mini usb on the main unit
He's right. The expresscard slot is visible in the photo, underneath a white flap. The miniUSB is on the right hand side of the thing, next to the regular USB ports.
I dont know if the ethernet adapter was used while measuring the battery life, but if so the battery is really crappy. Browsing with wifi consumes much more power from the battery that a simple adapter....
nice!
finally a small laptop i like. it looks much thinner than the EEE
Now only if it came in red like the dell.
Judging by that CPU clock, they're going to run out of old XP copies eventually.
I do wonder why they couldn't just stick an internal Ethernet port straight into the device for a longer battery life.
But I don't really care, this thing looks great! The summary failed to mention that the 7 inch LCD is also a touch screen. I've also tested out that Raon optical mouse and it actually works really well. Really excited about this one.
Though they do need to fix that 2.5 hour battery life....
Looks like a Jornada 720 for this decade. Nice.
To be honest.
This is a pretty tricked out 'netbook'
1.2 Ghz (dual-core)
1 GB Ram
12 Gig SSD
> A browse on youtube backs this up.
1.3 Mp Webcam
In regards to the rather large 'block-like' object with a ethernet adapter. I came accross it on after a gander at Google. Its an External Charger, with extra connections. This is to support (from what I've found) the 1 cell battery, which on its own has 2.5 hours of use. With plans for a 3 cell to be introduced later on.
I'm quite pleased by the AMD route as well. Especially since the graphics appears to have had some focus in the design. For me, this is much more appealing than an/all Eee pc(s). Pretty damn cool :)
It's sort of in limbo as far as portable classes goes; it's not cheap (in both price and hardware) like netbooks, but it lacks a few of the defining features of an UMPC (touchscreen), and amazingly, it has shite battery life, which was the one marketing point of the original Everun.
Did you see that keyboard?
W.

F.
Yeah, I'm not sure why engadget didn't make a particular note of the
fact that it's dual-core...
I am worried about the processor, the 1.6ghz Turion X2 in my Compaq V3000 got very hot.
This is a full voltage laptop CPU placed in a netbook, how can it handle all the heat? The battery life will be poor as well.
Personally, I like it has a 7" screen now with a decent 1024x600 resolution used in the other larger netbooks. Impressive specs.
This'll blow your freaking minds! It's a powerhouse in your pocket!!!!
I already have powerhouse in my pocket
That's not what she said.
Is that a 7" netbook in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
Is that nipple thingy at the bottom of the keyboard the mouse?
Hm.
Give it a touch screen, twist screen tablet, vendor supported ubuntu mobile, and HSPA modem (that does kinda look like a SIM card slot above the SD card slot, doesn't it?) that works with said ubuntu mobile install, and micro-dvi or mini-dvi port instead of vga port, and I'm in.
It has a touchscreen, and I heard that it may come with linux as a cheaper alternative
If they took this concept and made a larger model or added touch screen they could have a pair(or trio) of winning devices.
