Fujitsu-Siemens quietly intros Stylistic ST6012 tablet PC
Now that we think about it, it's been a hot minute since we've seen a new Stylistic tablet flow from the doors of Fujitsu-Siemens, but it has finally hit back with a new unit to keep the family alive. The Centrino 2-based ST6012 has been revealed on the firm's website without much fanfare, though the specs are decent enough. We're talking a Core 2 Duo SU9400 ULV processor, 12.1-inch WXGA (1,280 x 800) non-glare display, up to 4GB of RAM, optional WiFi / WWAN / Bluetooth modules, your choice of a 64GB SSD / 120GB to 320GB HDD, a built-in multicard reader, biometric scanner and a rather industrial motif. Mum's the word on a price and release, and quite honestly, we can't imagine those details ever being blasted from the rooftops.

I heard about them being blasted from the rooftops once...
Next time I read in the news about a man who "fell" to his death.
A maverick... with a balance problem.

?
What about its touch-sensitivity? It's obviously not meant to compete with Wacom but it'd be valuable to know for reference.
iHoppipolla: Most tablets/slates these days actually use the WACOM technology, so it's not really a case of competing with it.
Unless they use the N-Trig stuff, but seeing as most of the rest of the Fujitsu-Siemens machines use WACOM I can't see why they'd do that.
Looks very expensive.
I'm not surprised by the lack of pure tablets on the market now. I have a hybrid tablet, and even with relatively good tablet interface that Vista provides, I still find that I like having the keyboard for most things...even just web browsing. I guess this thing could be useful, but probably more so for speciality applications, or some tablet-friendly custom OS.
Finally a slate is available comparable to Modbook! Until the Modbook came with its WXGA screen, no slates had anything better than XGA (to my knowledge), which is too little for me. The last Stylistic slate was also stuck with old integrated graphics. This ST6012 has Intel's newer GMA 4500M HD, which, though integrated, is actually capable of real DirectX 9 gaming (sure, low quality, but it CAN play Team Fortress and Spore). I bet it will look better outdoors than a Modbook, but definitely not as good for media work without that great Wacom panel. Certify it with RoHS and EPEAT, and I'll seriously consider it.
i think its safe to say only bad products get released quietly
yes... but... does it... nm, i wonder if it can load that creepy iphone boob application.
I own a Stylistic 4110. It was great until about a week ago, when it complained of lack of disk space and asked for permission to compress old files to make room. "OK," I clicked. Since then, it can't boot, and complains that "chkdsk is missing." Microsoft makes Windows XP boot disks available on their website, but not for the tablet edition of their OS. As best I can tell, the thing is now a doorstop.
The blame probably rests with Microsoft here, rather than Fujitsu, but who knows? I sure as heck wouldn't buy another.
If you're gonna throw it away, send it my way. I think I could fix it if it has a USB port.
For your sake I hope u had ur files backed up - and I'm going to assume you did so when i explain how to fix it
- "Obtain" a copy of windows xp tablet - get it into ISO form.
- Mount the ISO file to a flash drive (the above software doesn't seem to do that well, you would have to find another piece of software)
- Make sure your boot order has flash drives (or whatever the bios may refer to them as) 1st
- Load away- you should be able to repair from there, but if hard disk space is an issue (sounds like it is) then u may have to wipe the entire partition and start new.
Can't wait, must...shoot...someone
This makes me cry a little, while I am glad there is another tablet out there it still only leaves the Gigabyte as the only one making an "AFFORDABLE" netbook version.
Just tablet wise they have to stop marking them as an "Ultra ultra premium" and charging them as so if they want to get people to buy them.
Drop the HDD space a little(to save money), and charge no more than $100 more for it and I think they would sell more (maybe $150 depending on REAL costs)
I always secretly wanted a tablet PC, but it's just too expensive for just-for-fun really.
