Logitech's diNovo gets right with the Mac community and thus, the Lord
Do you see them? Command and option keys instead of the Windows and alt keys. That's right, Logitech is doing the Mac community another solid with the introduction of its wireless diNovo Keyboard for Mac users. Exactly like its $100 PC version with 3-year battery only better 'cause it's for Macs... right?

Crap!
Wow, if you had said Allah you would be getting death threats right now. Or even worse, ACLU threats!
So I assume you used one?
"only better 'cause it's for Macs... right?"
wrong.
I am seriously considering reading another tech blog with because of all the mac addicts here. That favorite OS poll a few weeks ago was very telling of the demographic in readers. Just because it is made by Apple, or made for an Apple doesn't make it better.
Sarcasm is your friend.
I dunno, the author sounded mildly sarcastic to me....
fail !
::shakes head::
It's ok there buddy, sarcasm can be hard to spot at times.
Please don't go, ionman. Engadget just wouldn't be the same without you.
"I am seriously considering reading another tech blog with because of all the mac addicts here."
What are you waiting for then?. Move along because I am tired of hearing all the anti Mac whinging.
is that a symptom of Asperger's syndrome?
Hey, sometimes it's hard to tell sarcasm from utter stupidity on the internet. But, if it's the editor being questioned, I'd lean to sarcasm.
Make us a new mighty mouse since apple wont
Seconded. I do appreciate the Might Mouse's aesthetics, but I hope Apple or someone will find a better balance between form and function.
Logitech rocks! You Mac folks will love this keyboard. But try the DiNovo Edge for Mac if you're using a MacMini on your TV. I use it for my Vista HTPC, and it's awesome. Pricey but worth it.
Now make one with native Linux support, Logitech!
Hmm.. define Linux support. These diNovos are universal(ish) keyboards right? Does it not have drivers? I'd assume if it's USB it should probably work without much of an issue, and as for native functionality, I'd assume you use Ubuntu from your icon, pretty much any command is customizable. Not flaming by any means, I'm just curious.
Universal(ish) is a pretty good description. The diNovo bluetooth isn't recognized "out of the box" ... although you can get it recognized through the standard Linux trickery. And Logitech's customized keys don't always show up in Linux. At least not in Ubuntu. I'm not the script & compile type, so I'm just dreaming of the day one of Logitech's hot-hot keyboards have a specific driver for Linux use.
I use
http://www.itsky.com.au/assets/catalog/parts/LOG-KB-LOGITECH%20CORDLESS%20DESKTOP%20EX90%20KB%20&%20Mouse.jpg
this keyboard, and all of my shortcut keys work just dandy in Ubuntu 7.04, 8.04, and 8.10. Strange. But yeah I see what you mean then if it's not giving you all the functionality you paid for, pretty much that'd be a no-go for me.
@ Level5
I like that keyboard ... you're right - it works just fine in Linux. I'm really talking about the more specialized ones like the Edge, or the G15. The G15 has some LinFan support, but it hasn't seemed very reliable to me -- even when you go through the manager for keyboard settings with the G15, most of the special keys don't register as a keypress. The Edge's bluetooth dongle doesn't register until you do some wacky fun sudo apt gets ... but then it's recognized.
I would have to agree with reisa. I have the DiNovo Edge (pre-Mac version) and it works well with my Mac Mini, when used with its usb dongle and a little tinkering with 3rd party software (stoopid windows key). It's a good keyboard, the built-in trackpad works surprisingly well, and some of the extra buttons just work without any tweeking. It's a bit pricey but most good products are, and Logitech products have been worth the cost for me.
And the Macintosh Lord said, "Let there be command and option keys on thy peripherals!" And Mac fanboys gathered in the (hypothetical, I know) Logitech Store in NYC and many wept as they remembered the day they waited, religiously, for the iPhone and 3G, and the long, hard battle on the battleground that is the Engadget comment section that had led to this day of glory for their world.
Sorry, I'm really bored.
"Sorry, I'm really bored."
Get a job?
I'm a satisfied user of Logitech Cordless S510 keyboard + mouse and I really feel confortable with them.
The only things I dislike are the mouse wheel (all of the Logitech mouse I've owned over the years have a much better wheel than this one) and the keyboard multimedia keys (I guess they lag because of crappy PPC drivers).
I only use my oh-so-nice bluetooth mighty mouse on my Vista notebook :D and yes, sometimes I miss its wheel but Logitech mouse is much more confortable (the Windows notebook is just a secondary PC).
Most important, Logitech keyboard is much better of any Apple keyboard I've used and I'm expecially referring to the current ones that - when it comes to serious, fast, 10 fingers typing - are a real pain in the a**.
Of course I'm talking about my experience.
Does it interpret everything i write into command lines?
Is the keyboard backlit at all? I'm considering getting the DiNovo edge mac edition for the touchpad, although the price is a little steep
Nice keyboard, however one should NEVER install the Logitech Control Center crap-, spy-, bloatware for OS X, which violates several OS application rules and is not only very hard to uninstall, but also causes numerous problems like the infamous Leopard-upgrade Bluescreen.
Agree with Vega. Logitech make some great equipment, but I've had nothing but trouble with the software. I've got an MX Revolution and it's the best mouse I've ever used, but the Logitech Control Center that installs with it is bugged to hell.
And I've never had any problem with the software for my MX510 or G9. And I've been using them on the triple edged sword that is Vista (gasp) 64 (double gasp).
Same, no problems with this or MX Revolution on Vista 64.
I was agreeing with VEGA on the Mac implementation of LCC.
Can't find this on the Logitech site, I found the windows version (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/4742&cl=us,en ) , but not the Mac version.
I currently am using the Windows version of Dinovo Edge, and I would like to get the one pictured, more for the addition of the number pad than it actually made "For a Mac".
Any news on release date?
Omg when will Logitech start to put bluetooth in their higher ends products so we don't have to use their stupid dongle? Ugh
The diNovo Edge DOES in fact support native bluetooth - without use of the dongle. Otherwise the crazydance my fingers are currently performing would be in vain.
this keyboard - and the windows version for $100, are not the EDGE model, and trade the slider volume control+mouse/scroll pad for a number pad (think desktop vs htpc). I'm not sure what dongle it will use.
It does however annoy me that the 2 logitech mice I have require individual dongles and don't support bluetooth.
The title of this post made me laugh, people were looking at me over the cube walls.
Oh that religious humor.
I love the headline.
Also, these keyboards rock. But they are better when you get them in a Best Buy clearance for 39.99 and sell all but one on Amazon for 100+ the same day.
Matches the new iMacs perfectly. I'll have to check it out.
Two questions...
Who is the Mac community lord?
Any know how this compares to the wired Apple keyboard, in terms of how it feels to type on?
WRONG
Hurray, for a new mac without this gizmo is much like a fish without a bike ! Ride on !
lol engadget getting lazy. This is a double dupe.

Different keyboard.
This is essentially the one you linked to except with a numpad rather than fancy media nonsense.
