Dell Malaysia nabs a Studio 14 laptop before the rest of us
Here's a fun game that you can play at home: what comes between "Studio XPS 13" and "Studio 15"? If you guessed "Studio 14," you can count just about as well as those Dell marketing types. Granted, granularity has always been sort of a thing with Dell, so we can't really harsh on them too much for giving us more options -- though this laptop has only popped up at Dell Malaysia so far, so perhaps we'll be spared the distinction (unlikely). For 3,599 RM (that's "Malaysian ringgits," about $1,038 of our boringly "US dollars") you can score a Core 2 Duo T8100 2.10GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, X3100 integrated graphics, 250GB HDD and a 14.1-inch LED-backlit 1280 x 800 display. Those magical media playback controls to the right of the keyboard? Those come free.

X3100 integrated graphics". . . ewww!
Thank God, HD 3450 is offered, X3100 is too lame.
I think for laptop that is over 1000 dollars, discrete graphics have to be included.
Deep inside the 14 wants to be an XPS 13.
we were looking for you at the NYC meetup
why is this better than the m1330?
i don't think it is any better...
it comes with a fancy design on the back
This is my repackaged 2 year old Inspiron E1405 with a larger hard drive and slightly less crappy graphics!
All for the same price! Wooooooooooo!
Nice laptop for work with a normal price. Happy shopping!
Jees. I feel bad for Europe.
Since when has Malaysia been in europe? Or am I missing something?
You are missing a comment by CLAK.
Now, excuse me. But I can't help but think this is just the same laptop as my Vostro 1400 in a different chassis. :\
Seriously, why do Dell feel so desperate to saturate the laptop market? I'd have the 14" lattitude over this ANY day.
You'd never know there was a recession the way dell is doubling and tripling there product lines...
Whoops, I just mentioned the economy again.
I know that Looks are Looks but HP makes far better looking laptops and it looks like HP offers more choice. I think Dell really needs to do something radical to come out of this funk, how about free very powerful video card?
so did Dell fix the issues that there was with the Studio 15?
All I need right now is another queue of Studio 14's not reading discs, or not ejecting discs via the eject button, bad trackpads etc...
OMG "he" is baaaaack! Arm the shields!
Wonder how long this account is gonna last :P
I got a Laptop some time now.. My next one would be with Windows 7 and a multi-touch-screen.
Nothing less than that because as a Laptop my current one is more than ok.
Are you fucking kidding me, this notebook still isn't Centrino 2, its still using Santa Rosa from 2007, Dell what is up!?
I cant wait for their response to the Air...I never liked the thickness of Dell laptops. If they can get one 13.3 incher under one inch thickness then I'm sold...
saw this on dell india a few days back. didnt realise it was THAT new.
I would definitely look at it. Dell must offer it here in the US!
Do we need a laptop in every inch size?
14.1-inch with 1280 x 800 display?
Come on Dell, my 3 years old XPS M1210 12.1-inch comes with 1280 x 800 display.
At least give us 1440 x 900 display.
At least Dells aren't so fat and ugly anymore.
Is there anything wrong with YOUR maths? The if you have not noticed the the numbers 9,12,13,14,15,17, 20... makes reference to the size of Dell's laptop screen size, its not related to performance or any upgrade to the actual hardware. The fact that a model can be sold in a region or an other have to be with the specific market that region has. You always try to compete where you have chances to win.
