Isn't that video card a bit underpowered for an XPS? According to NotebookCheck it only barely beats out the previous generation's GeForce 8600M; I was expecting a bit more from Dell, something not quite so.....I don't know, Apple-y.
If the comments above are right, It's the 3670, not 3650.
"If the comments above are right, It's the 3670, not 3650."
The 3670 is only a moderate step up from the mobile 3650, and apparently only comparable to the modest desktop 3650. My point still stands.

Dimensions? Looks great but how thick is it?
Finally, a laptop with sideburns!
This is all good, but what about the Adamo thingy? remember, the MBA rival?
It's very nice. I want one. but when go out in spain?. and bring linux?
and studio xps 1540?
Very nice looking laptop.
They look very nice, specs are pretty damn good aswel.
Do we know any release dates yet? e.g. UK?
$1200?! Wow, that really makes the new MB Pro look like a big shiny turd.
so.. when can i buy this on dell.ca ?
Normally 2 weeks... let's hope so...
Hm they stuck a 9500m option in the 13. SOLD!
For the Mac fans who our saying Dell comes up last in quality, service, etc. you might want to take a look at the latest scorecards...Dell isn't first but they are far from last.

No, i dont want vista.
I own an M1330 and after the whole NVidia graphics chip overheating problem I hope they switch to ATI graphics soon.
I will stick with my macbook alu i think! These may be very nice and cheap, but they won't have the amazing build quality my machine has, or the brilliant trackpad, or even the current best os in the world!
The 1640 is a fail for me. Though I will hold off final judgment until it really gets official. Word is there will be several more options added to both the 1340 and 1640 over then next few days (weeks). The M86-XT in a 16" notebook is week. Especially for something tagged with XPS. The 9650m GT should be a minimum as far as I am concerned. And I see no reason why Dell couldn't fit a true 256 bit GPU (9700m GT) in a 16" notebook chassis. I sure hope we see an option like this in the near future.
With a good coupon the 9400m equipped 1340 might be a nice option for the wife, but Dell hasn't shown me anything that would make me reconsider going for a Zepto NOX A14.
When opened these things have really nice designs but why did they have to ruin it with the silver accent on the back? Just leave it that nice black all over.
Please be under 1" thick....
WOW. This is the first laptop that makes me feel slightly bad about buying my MacBook.
Looks AWESOME. And like Matt said, its the first laptop thats not apple, but caught my eye.
I bought the 1640 model the first day it came out. Shipped the 19th of Jan. and I got it the 21st. Was on the phone with Dell that night because the video driver was failing over and over again. 2.5 hours later I had a hard drive that was reset to factory settings because the tech was able to blue screen the hell out of it. Same thing happens the next day with video driver....another call, another "fix" that doesn't work. Make a long story short, they ended up sending a tech to replace the LCD screen AND Motherboard on a three day old laptop. I couldn't believe all the crap I had to go through.....I was even told by one tech that I should just "wait it out and maybe it will fix with an update down the road" HA! Overall its a nice laptop both performance and looks. Not sure about the leather strip but eh....oh and it gets extremely hot, but what laptop doesn't.
My two cents...
