Because you can never have too many
Tecra laptops in your life,
Toshiba's announced that the A10-S3511 and M10-S3411 are currently making their way through retail channels. Both PCs sport a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processors, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, 160GB HDD, built-in webcam, WiFi, Bluetooth, Toshiba's EasyGuard technology, a Li-on battery that's expected to last just under 3 hours per charge, and Windows Vista Business with media to downgrade it to XP Professional. As for their differences, the A10's has a 15.4-inch screen with WSXGA+ resolution, NVIDIA's Quadro NVS, a 7200rpm disk speed, and a shiny new $1249 price tag, while the M10's got a 14.1-inch TFT LCD with WXGA+ resolution, an Intel GM45 integrated graphics chip, a 5400rpm disk speed, and a $1100 asking price, which is a bit lower than what we heard
back in July.

my old tecra sucked
while my old tecra M2 is still working as my http/ftp/BT server ten thousand kilometers away
Yet another average, boring laptop. Seems like this is all that fills Engadget recently.
They can keep them all to themselves
what a rip off for the price . . . what is worth even $1000 on that 15.4"? the slow hard drive or the crappy battery life?
I guess the processor is nice but the rest of the specs are just dump worthy.
Erm... I have a Dell Inspiron that stacks up against that pretty nicely. Some of the bandwidths are now slightly dated. But then, it was only $550 eight months ago. $1,100 for an M10?!
Your site still sucks.
You guys should check the Tecra R10 ;-)
Average eh? Its not the average 1280x800. Its not the average Intel Integrated craptacular graphics. Its HD's not the average 5400 rpm. Its connection options are more than average USB only. The CPU isnt the average mobile processor, its the ulta low powered P8x00. Some people have no appreciation for the finer points; the only thing average here are the battery and the price.
Gateway 7811fx > Tecra A10/M10
Dont get too excited about these computers. They still have some kinks to work out. I work at a retail store that orders alot of these and ships them out of the country. About 10% of the machines we downgrade have some sort of problem right out of the box that needs repair. Pulled one out today that freezes during the downgrading process. Give it a few months before you rush out to buy these boring computers.
they aren't even the same class (look at the sizes)... are you that desperate for traffic?
I can't complain too much about my Tecra. I paid $110 for it. The built in wireless and sound is broken, but other than that, works great. SXGA+ screen at 1400x1050 res and a 2ghz P4M.
