MSI X-Slim X600 specs get detailed in full

We've already gotten word of some of the specs for MSI's new X-Slim X600 ultraportable, and gotten up close with the laptop itself, but those few remaining details has now finally been revealed in full, along with some fresh new pics of a hereto unseen black model. According to Notebook Italia, there will be two variations of the laptop available: one packing a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive, and the other sporting a slower 1.2GHz Intel Celeron processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive -- the latter also ditches the built-in Bluetooth. Otherwise, you'll get ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics on each, along with HDMI out, three USB ports, a six-cell battery and, of course, that 15.6-inch 1,366 x 768 screen. Still no official word on a US release, unfortunately, but it looks like these will sell for €799 and €949 (or roughly $1,120 and $1,320) when they hit Europe at the end of June.

Nothing annoys me more than when a small trackpad is used when there is space for a huge one. In my opinion bigger is better. (Dell is worst offender using the smallest possible trackpads on HUGE laptops.)
Bigger is Better - Thats what she said...
No, she didn't say that because she didn't want to hurt your feelings.
I hate the trend manufactures are going with the screen resolution. I'd prefer the resolution to be higher vertically. 768 just doesn't cut it for me. Many app like Word and Firefox have large tool bars and they take over everything. 1280x800 is barely acceptable to me. 4/3 ratio was perfect for some2 like me that work with photoshop, it just a greater screen estate vertically-wise. I know it for cost reduction, but jeeze, I have my HDtv set for that. They should always offer more choices for people. Lucky Lenovo still have those option. Boooo other manufacturers!
Super-duper expensive for the specs.
I mean you can get a uber gaming gateway laptop for that $1,320.
Because that's exactly who they are catering to...
Euro prices usually contain ~19 to 20% VAT. Keep that in mind...
What, 19-20%? It's always exactly 15% or 17%. It's not variable other than those exact 2 amounts.
Actually its usually 17.5%
looks sweet but only a idiot would pay that price...2 miles of tape on the inside is a added free bonus
I work at a Staples store and while we haven't put them on display yet, I'm pretty sure we have 2 of these sitting in our back room. I looked at the specs the other day and thought it was amazing until I read the processor line. How ever, the box does suggest an 8 hour battery life. Seems to make a laptop suddenly more productive all over again. That being said, my Lenovo X60s with an extended battery could get 8 hours 3 years ago.
Edit: Our versions have 4GB of RAM and 320GB HDDs.
is this one of those PC's with 10 times betters specs than a Mac at half the price?
No.
@ iransir
your an idiot..
@james
YOU'RE the idiot. You ignorant SOB. hahaha learn teh grammarz!
Yeah, i heard that this absolutely flaws the Mac Tablet at all benchmarks, including the ExistenceMark 09
Great! the whole point of CULV is low power, now they have to offset the powersavings with a freakishly large screen
Worse: large screen with LOW resolution. It's dumb. Also, put in a bloody Core 2 DUO CULV. At least make it an option. I hate this notebook because it comes so close to being good, yet it sucks my ballzack. Also, NO stickers already!!!
I am liking this - nice to include numeric keypad
It's nice to have the num keypad on the right.
Why do they jam in a number pad in a 15" notebook then not make the keyboard go edge-to-edge? It only makes sense to do so.
I luv this model, just that I wonder the whole point of these things are to be very light and don't get me wrong for 15.6" that's very light weight.
Just that I'm debating weather this would be worth while instead of staying with a 10" netbook or going MID
Not bad considering it is an ultraportable. You cannot compare the specs on this to a regular notebook.
It's NOT an ultraportable you idiot. Look at the screen size.
It's paper thin. Why do you think it is so much money? Go waste your money on a mac, troll.
Its actually .98 inches thick. Which isn't that thin at all, compared to other thin computers. It's also 4.6 pounds, which isn't ultraportable weight.
I saw the black one at a Staples last week. :|
Never mind, I'm an idiot, probably saw an older model.
wtf? who does msi think it is, apple?
Why the crappy processor?
Its a first gen touch tablet running a lightweight linux OS.
Ha, im not on the crunchpad page anyyyymore.
GibiLolz.... :(
And then install OS X on it...
isn't that keyboard going to be cramped with the full numpad on there on a 15" screen? also with those processors msi is way over charging for these.
Slow news day?
apple should sue.
have hey got a patent on trying to sell overpriced stuff?
Yes.
I dont see the point of this when for the same price or less I can get the Samsung X460. Yeah I know it is a 14in screen, but it is lighter, has better keyboard, a dvd drive, similar graphics, and best of all your choice of speed from the Intel C2D line.
Why is this so expensive when the Acer Timeline with the same specs and style is $598???

The acer is somewhat thicker and heavier. Also need to compare to those prices minus 20% for the VAT. But still it does seem like quite a premium for what it is.
The X600 also has Radeon HD4330 discrete graphics, while the Acer Timeline uses Intel integrated graphics (which utterly sucks by comparison). I imagine alot of the price premium on the X600 comes from the superior graphics.
very nice
Wut, €900?
Hell no.
I have a Dell Latitude D830 and I have absolutely no issues with the size of the trackpad. My wrists rest perfectly on each side of the trackpad, and a larger trackpad would only make it easier to accidentally hit the trackpad when I am typing. It's all about balance. If the trackpad seems to small, increase the sensitivity a bit (but not too much).
Incorrect word choice alert!
HERETOFORE, not hereto.
heretofore = before this time; until now.
hereto = to this matter; regarding this point.
