Dual-screen gScreen laptop gets pictured, hopefully launching this year
We were pretty skeptical of gScreen's plans to produce a line of dual-screen laptops rocking when we first heard about them in February, but here we are, looking at the first picture we've seen of the Spacebook laptop. We're told it has two 15.4-inch displays -- since the company knows you don't always need both screens, the second stows away behind the first and slides out when you need it, just like the Lenovo W700ds. Except, you know, with a full-size screen. Inside, you'll have a selection of Core 2 Duos, 4B of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 900M GT graphics, and a 7200rpm drive -- all of which explain why it's expected to cost just south of $3,000. gScreen's planning on having this on sale by the holidays, along with a dual-13-inch model -- let's hope the company can pleasantly surprise us yet again.

I am going to get so many girls with this
If you don't, you can span porn across both screens to make you feel better.
Perfect for viewing really big women.
don't need computers for that...just fold the screens down and look around
America, fuck yeah!
THE BLOODY HELL
FINALLY! with this i know ill get beat up
this will work great on an airplane. sir, your laptop it too fat for one seat. we're going to request you buy a second ticket
Body Builder will love it.
Yeah, how much does it weigh? 20 lbs? Who wants to carry two laptops? :)
Great .. (crack .... crunch.. ) Oh shucks, I think I just broke my back !!!! Ooouch
i really dont think this laptop should come w/ a battery at all... otherwise it would be drain in record time :\
Battery Life=Lacking
"Core 2 Duos, 4B of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 900M GT graphics"
4B of RAM???.... that might be a problem...
I'll be rockin my toggle switches with that four bytes.
LOL
registers start your swapping!
That looks, amazing.
yea...amazingly hideous
Think on site video editing
or kick-ass coding
or kick-ass designing
or kick ass music production/recording
looks pretty sweet to me
Looks totally awesome to me, less of the hideous. Though it has the potential to get hideous , the slide mechanism could really suck.
Now we need some thin film screens meshed with oragami and when u open ur laptop they fold out to make a four screen uber panel
perfect for Logic Studio or ProTools. do want.
Love it in theory; in practice, that is going to be one thick laptop. Also, for that price you could just get two good laptops (I know, I know, it's not the same, it was a joke... sort of).
But why do they have to be glossy screens!?
Really, what this company (or some company) should be investing in are standalone, battery-powered monitors that you can plug into your laptop.
4B of ram. Damnit I can only run DOS with this thing. How many times will I have to downgrade versions of windows! Can't I get some 3.11 action?
DOS 6.22 actually requires 512KBs of memory.
Damn, what could I possibly run then?
The BIOS. I hear it's a fun game.
Damn, Paris and Pam the same time! WooHoo~
Wow, talk about annoying the person sitting on your sides in economy class. LOL.
BTW, 4B of RAM and Geforce 900M! Can it play Wolfenstein 3D?
I don't think it could play pong. I think ENIAC had more memory lol
@ least you can watch your movie and she can watch hers. however getting the right sound for the right screen will be a matter by itself if the player can't funnel the sound to respective channels...
Dont't actually look half bad:P
They're launching that laptop in this economy?
The price isn't ridiculous, but I can't imagine anyone investing money in this company. Maybe he's launching it for some sort of claim to a patent he'll sell to the big computer manufacturers.
And guys, he obviously meant 4 B(uckets) of ram.
You still wouldn't have bought it even if you couldn't use the economy as an excuse.
That'll be cool.. for like a week
Is it just me, or does the left lower side looked to be not snapped in right....my eyes may be getting one over on me or something....
It sits behind the one on the right. When only using 1 screen, you'd just be using the one on the right. Then, for two screens, the front one slides to the right and the back one slides to the left.
It would be nice if when you slide the monitors out, that they would actually move into place beside one another (or 'snap in place') as the original poster put it.
Nilay, Mr Senior Editor, edit your posts plz? kthx
Seems a little...excesive. But if this is not a sign of the apocalypse I do not know what is.
As unattractive and heavy as that thing looks, I'm actually craving it. In my business, the more montiros the better. And sometimes I only have a laptop and my viliv on me. This could be nice. Be nice to show Starbuck "writers" what real work looks like.
I would hate to break the hinges on that laptop...
Wait, what is a 900m?
ohhhhhhhhhh god gimme three of em.
haha.. the more I look at it, the funnier it gets!
DO WANT
i can already see all the people staring at me in starbucks when i pull out this baby.
LOL!!!!
weight?
Wow, looks sexy to me. Extra monitor is just what I need.
