Dual-screen gScreen laptop gets pictured, hopefully launching this year
We were pretty skeptical of gScreen's plans to produce a line of dual-screen laptops rocking when we first heard about them in February, but here we are, looking at the first picture we've seen of the Spacebook laptop. We're told it has two 15.4-inch displays -- since the company knows you don't always need both screens, the second stows away behind the first and slides out when you need it, just like the Lenovo W700ds. Except, you know, with a full-size screen. Inside, you'll have a selection of Core 2 Duos, 4B of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 900M GT graphics, and a 7200rpm drive -- all of which explain why it's expected to cost just south of $3,000. gScreen's planning on having this on sale by the holidays, along with a dual-13-inch model -- let's hope the company can pleasantly surprise us yet again.

awsome but when you close it, do the monitors stick out, or do they just kind of like, fold or something.;
one slides behind the other then it closes just like a normal laptop
Wait three months ... it'll have 8 bytes of RAM at half the price.
A device with two screens? IT'LL NEVER SELL!!! Has Nintendo's failure taught us nothing?
There goes your battery life
Next will be 3 screened models. Woot. One slides from the side, one from the top. Oh yea.
Or better yet, Two that fold out to either side of the main screen. fap fap fap fap.
Talk about overcompensating for the lack of something else! ( ;

I hope this catches on. Having optional extra screen-space for programming/browsing/gaming without having a ridiculously big laptop would be pretty sweet.
I'd get one because it's so ridiculous.
Ridiculously AWESOME.
so...battery life is what, half an hour with both screens on?!
for that price the screens better be backlit LEDs and also if they had thought about battery life
The only thing that would make this cooler is if both screens popped out like the keyboard on the Thinkpad 701c to form one massive super screen. oh well. This thing is still one of the most awesome laptops ever made.
This would be great for stock trading!
Nothing will say 'Geek Fashionista' like sitting in Starbucks sipping your Frappuccino while twittering your homies with this bad boy.
Waaaaaaay too heavy, but useful?
What im wondering is whether the screen would easily be contaminated with finger prints.
MOAR HUGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!1111!!11111ONE
Now let's just hope they're matte WUXGA screens :)
That's brilliant. If they can make it super-light, that's going to be one massive product.
lets just hope that the laptop wont be overheating, but 2 screens?, good luck with the laptop's temperature.
Imagine dropping that thing..
You don't just break one.. you break TWO monitors.
For those that can afford it this will be awesome, but many companies are struggling with their budgets as it is... if they can ride this recession through though, there'll be many people waiting in line for this.
This is great and all, but I'm curious as to what all those screens are going to do for battery life. I'd ask about weight too, but I'm assuming that isn't a real question for someone shelling out for one of these.
Also, show some kindness to Nilay on the typo- we all make those mistakes every once in awhile.
Why not dual sliding 20" monitors instead? Seriously, why not?
Exactly. This isn't for starbucks anyway. This could be very useful for taking with you if you need a multiple monitor setup when you are out of town. For instance, equity trading from your hotel room :) Yum
Somebody get Hugh Jackman! It may not be 7 screens, but it'll do on the go.
That is freaking insane.
Honestly...why would anyone need this? I can imagine the mechanism that "unfolds" the two screens is probably the first thing to break. It's probably much more expensive to repair than a typical laptop hinge as well.

The 13" might be good. Given it stays under 2.5KG
I can't believe it! I wish I had this notebook while working with virtual pc software. If it's possible to view host operating system on one screen and guest operating system on the second screen they'll be able to cut a big chunk on the pc market. As a matter of fact, a great majority of people very like combining work with enjoying life (playing games, chatting etc) This notebook is exactly what they need.
The f$%^r who buys this thing will be the one who wants to sit next to me in class each day. "Excuse me, pardon me"
I refuse to buy one until it has 3 screens in it and at least 24GB of ram and and Quad SLI.............
I think when he (or she) typed in 4B I think thats a typo being that the B is so close to the G and I have looked up the specs on this machine an dit is a very sexy machine. I would love to get my hands on one, but for now I have this crappy acer travelmate 2300 that runs XP pro. sigh...
Ugly or not 2 screens are productive and it's hard to go back to a single screen after using 2. I put another variation of a concept at http://www.neeshdesign.com.au/neeshblog/dual-screen-laptop-variation. It was slapped together as an idea so has lots of room for improvement. Any comments would be great.
