gScreen Spacebook caught on video working its dual-screen magic
Admittedly, we had our doubts when we first heard about gScreen's dual-screen Spacebook portable and saw only renders and prototypes not shown working. We've now got video of the laptop in action, although the company couldn't have done much more to make it a less appealing presentation. The glimpse is seconds long, the resolution is very low and lighting is poor, but it does seem to be working solution. Video beyond the read link, here's hoping next time around we get something a little clear.

just last week i thought how nice it'd be to have a second monitor at work with my laptop. hopefully it's not too expensive.
*clicks link* GIZMODO!? MY EYEZZ THEY BUURRRN!!!
I couldn't agree more with you.
+ 1
I think I've seen the devil.

I think I've seen the d3vil.
exactly. that wasn't very nice Ross. i'm telling.
Actually Gizmodo has respectfully used Engadget as a source many times before and the Gizmodo readers didn't make such a big deal about it. Just sayin'
I agree with Ashkay. Not to be an outcast here, but I prefer Gizmodo in part for that reason. I mean, I read both blogs, and like each one for its own benefits, but Engadget always seems to have an unspoken, almost awkward vendetta against Giz. I've even seem times where Gizmodo jokes, inside jokes, are used in story headlines and Engadget features similar headlines that don't make sense on their website, because the joke doesn't exist on their website. I just think that Gizmodo is more professional in giving credit where credit is due. Engadget never shows sources.
So....the battery is going to last for around ...let me guess...1 hour, 1 and a half?
unless that thing sports a netbook soul inside and let's you get almost 3 hours..
I don't know...it's a nice idea and I would deff like one...but it's a battery killer. (Specially with those sizes in the video)
this idea would work great with a netbook lol, a tiny chasis with an outfolding screen, it won't help those who can't type on tiny keyboards but at least it will make it easier to do work on them with extra screen space
the lg bl40 chocolate touch has dual screen functionality, right?
At first I thought cellphones were irrelevant to this article but on second thought a "dual-screen magic" would be kind of cool I guess.
think how heavy that will be. 2 screens, the mechanism for it, a bigger battery.... you may as well just pack a second monitor with your laptop.
When we truly go thin film fast refresh ultra low power e-paper then this sort of thing will take off.
Imagine opening your laptop and out folds a 24" monitor.
Until then an expensive power sapping curiosity
that would be all kinds of amazingness. i completely agree. i am now going to strap myself to your back like you are my mother panda and you will teach me the ways of the land
we need oled for the dual screen concept to be useful
In the words of so many: lolwut?
lcd is too thick, too heavy and uses too much power. oled improves on all of those
Nice explanation. The only problem (for now) is the price.
just wait for another 10 years and we'll have oleds everywhere, but we would want holographic displays to come down in price by that time.
Honestly, this seems like a great idea if they can work out the kinks.
Yes, it'll be a battery vampire if you're using 2 screens all the time. Yes, it seems clunky right now. Frankly, though, I'd love for dual screens in one unit so I'm not lugging about an extra monitor, and I'd only use the dual screens in moments where it would just help a lot to have 2 screens if it's not plugged in; otherwise, 1 screen is fine. If it is plugged in, they'd be out the whole time since I'm not worried about battery power.
A great desktop replacer.
i clicked on the link expecting to see a lame useless product, and 13 seconds later I must admit that I am impressed. But I'm not proud of that.
what happed to the daily roundup. Now the articles just go on and on forever, it is really wierd, because when i come in the morn, no place marker
It's pronounced "Spu-CHEH-buk"
Why isnt the main (left) screen on top?
really good point. lmao at that oversight!
