Motorola CLIQ available to T-Mobile customers now, great masses November 2
Well now this is a pleasingly rapid transition from announcement to review samples to market availability. Motorola's Android-loving CLIQ (already on sale under the moniker DEXT in the UK), its QWERTY keyboard and all the apps you could desire are now ready to be had, should you already have an account with T-Mobile, the device's exclusive US carrier. It was expected that only pre-orders would be taken today, but it appears for all the world that T-Mobile is ready to start shipping the CLIQ to its loyal customers ahead of the November 2nd full release date. Prices start from the previously reported $199.99 on a two-year agreement -- a move that will give you plenty of time to wonder if you shouldn't have waited for more details about the Droid mashup from Verizon, Motorola, and Google.

pass it up,
get the droid!
all these physical keyboards are bulking moto up.. droid doesn't unless it's sleek.
> get the droid!
Indeed.
With that amazing device coming out on a rival, how long before the price of the Cliq gets down to where it should be?
C'mon, give the kid a break. The Cliq is like the 3 year-old brother of the Droid. He deserves some love as well. Actually I have to congratulate the keyboard. Finally one of them cell phone designer chimps decided to add a fast physical keyboard to a social phone. **** Breakthrough***
This is not for sale in the UK, no matter what the press releases say.
Tell a lie...I assumed it would be T-Mobile UK carrying it, but it's Orange UK. Free on selected 18/24 month contracts.
Another iPhony, wake me up when apple does something original for everyone else to follow again. YAWN
If by original you mean: Web presence, Universal Search, Modding, Flash browsers, SDHC cards up to 32 GB, backlight physical keyboard and virtual ones with haptic feedback, Open Source, Flash cameras, 5, 8, 12 MP cameras, phones/credits cars, water-proof phones, phone that bounce off the floor, phones with projectors, phone that reproduces 3D images, phones with RECEPTION, Opera Browser, Skyfire....
HMM>... WAKE UP, DUDE!! You have been dumbed down.
man i've watched the Motorola's Android BLUR demo, it's just very complicated... i mean they tried and it was great, but then they over tried
simple UI loads faster, smaller file sizes, easier to understand, gives more space, more scannable content and/or simple coding and testing
just my thoughts to Motorola!
I'm sorry...usually I'm loath to be rude to people on the internet, but unless you're particularly slow what exactly is "complicated" about it? Where did you see slowdown? Which demo did you actually watch? Basically can you substantiate ANY part of what you said?
It is like saying that you think that pair of jeans on the internet won't fit you... I think you can only complain about the UI ONCE you have tried it live, at least on a store that sells the phone or through a friend's phone. Before that, you are just shooting fish in a barrel.
I can't imagine why anyone would buy this when there are so many better Android phones just over the horizon. Judging from the hardware specs this is basically just a prettied up G1.
I like pretty G1's
To be honest i don't see anything pretty about the CLIQ
Why Engadget never mentions what kind of plan you need to get a phone on contract?
Or can you always get it with the cheapest plan? (Rhetorical question.)
24 x $50 is not the same as 24 x $100, it makes quite a difference in the end...
In the United States of America, one nation under God, indivisible with justice and liberty for all, 99% of any kind of smartphones require a data plan.
eww who picked that Vista background behind the phone? horrible.
yo momma
I guess you won't like the new wallpaper she installed on your room.... :( How disappointing you are ....
The Droid looks much better, but I'm limited to T-mobile so for me this seems the way to go. Who else preordered theirs? No shipping details yet, but I'm excited!
I'm waiting on the Behold II, but not liking that there has been 0 news since the announce on Oct 4.
I waiting for an Android phone that has a 3.5" screen & a Snapdragon processor. Hopefully that way by the time my contract runs out I'll still have a phone that will support the constant OS upgrades.
@Camel
i will be pre-ordering mine later around 11 pacific time. I can't wait.
the pro about this phone for me are the keyboard, i NEED a physical keyboard for speedy texts, e-mail etc.
the con (along with all the androids thus far) is the processor :(
I am really excited about this phone. Motorola have finally done it right :)
Same dated qual proc and hw. When the heck am I going to be able to get an android phone with a hardware keyboard that is actually an upgrade?
Placed my pre-order.
Predicted delivery October 26th, but the reps cant take the order over the phone because its still in pre-order.
So people say it will arrive around November 2 and computers say it will get here on the 26 - lets hope the computers are right.
And to all the arguments - this phone is the best available for t-mobile, not everyone bounces from carrier to carrier - it is a reasonable competitor to the Original iPhone 3g with its processor and hey its open software.
Smile be happy and toss my old moto a1200 into the box of dead devices
I'm curious, where did you find out the arrival date? T-mobile's website and automated order inquiry gave me no additional information about my order.
I like Cliq's.
Waitin the OMNIA 2. the Samsung phone got optimised to decrease lag, which is finally good to hear. Plus OLED, 800 MHZ, 256 RAM, 5MP Camera with FLASH. Hello iphone killer
Loving the BLUR...
Why is my upgrade price of $199.00 the same as a new sub coming in with a 2 year contract.
Ive been with TMO for 3 years with the same phone.
Should I call the retention Dept?
Question is why this inferior phone costs same as the Droid.
