Malata's R108T netvertible embraces touch, Windows 7
It's been nearly three full years since we've heard a peep from Malata, but the outfit has chosen an opportune time to reemerge into the spotlight. The R108T netbook is one of the convertible variety, boasting a swiveling 10-inch touchscreen (similar to ASUS' Eee PC T91) and Windows 7 to boot. Internally, things get a lot more boring -- there's a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 1.3 megapixel camera, WiFi, Ethernet, a pair of USB sockets, VGA output and a 3-in-1 card reader. We're told that the asking price on this one will hover around $439, though there's no clear indication that it'll ever head stateside.

Stop the huge bezel insanity.
the tablet in the photo is running Vista
heh, I was going to see if anyone else had noticed that! Vista on an Atom proc was never terrible, I knew a few people that did it.
I like convertible notebooks\netbooks, but i'm so tired of this cheap models with huge bezel, slow processor, small screen resolution, ugly keyboard, unknown brands (wtf is Malata?), GMA graphics, etc. Is it that hard to make 12-13" WXGA touch screen (with active digitizer) notebook with Core2Duo or i5m, i7m processor, 2-4 Gb of Ram, normal graphic card, 6-8h battery, and keep the weight less than 2kg?
Urm Yes.
That is a pretty big ask tbh.
You just described my thinkpad X61 tablet.
Acer's got something close with their line up of 11.6 inch convertibles due out any time now...

The 1820PT is 1.72kg, CULV C2D, 4GB RAM, WXGA 11.6 inch screen, 8 hr battery life, GMA4500MHD, which is still Intel, but that's actually bearable. From the specs on Acers site, it seems the only thing missing from your list is the active digitizer. If these things included Wacom Pen & Touch tech, and Pixel Qi's screen tech, they would be the perfect portable computer for me, anyways.
Acers new lineup of 11.6 inch convertibles meet all that except the active digitizer, although the 4500XHD isn't great either, it's certainly capable of HD playback. I'd love to see something like the Acer 1820PT with Wacom's Pen & Touch technology and some Pixel Qi as well, for outdoor readability.
ThinkPad X61 is good, but XGA (1024*768) screen... Also, the CPU is slow, 1Gb of ram is not enough, and I also prefer keyboard, that looks like Vaio's keyboard or MacVook's keyboard.
Strange name if you ask me. "malata" is italian for ill, sick...
The convertible netbook market will start to become boring really quick, just like standard netbooks.
Netvertible! This is shocking!
I refuse to call these things 'netvertibles'. It's one of the stupidest names I've ever heard.
And still stuck in the last generation of netbook hardware!
Touchscreen, keyboard, and mobility for under $500. I want this.
