Power hungry, are you?
ASUS has just the rig for you, as it just launched its newest Republic of Gamers laptop here at a CES press event. The G73jh is doing its darnedest to make every other gaming lappie out there look downright weak, with this one boasting a
Core i7-720QM CPU, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 8-channel HD audio, up to 1TB of HDD space and DirectX 11 compatibility thanks to the internal ATI Radeon HD 5870. You'll also get a spacious 17.3-inch display, a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, Blu-ray / DVD combo drive, 8-cell battery, a 2 megapixel webcam, 802.11b/g WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, an 8-in-1 card reader and a mini-VGA connector. Naturally, Windows 7 Home Premium will be running the show, and this thing is far from being slim and sexy. There's no word yet on a price and release, but we'll keep you posted.
Update: We nabbed a quick hands-on, check it out!

Actually, it's quite affordable starting at $1645 for the base (listed) configuration.
It's nice looking but I never want to buy a desktop replacement again. I bought an Asus similar to this 3 years ago and it's hot and heavy on the lap. I'm sure this would be the same way. Just buy a desktop, your lap will thank you.
@specialbuddy
If it was a desktop replacement it should have been on your desk not your lap.
it looks pretty slim for a (roughly) 18 inch gaming laptop
If this computer isn't crippled with CPU throttling under heavy load I might just have to return my studio 17 i7-820qm (when it finally gets here)
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet
First one in a long time a product gives Toshiba's X500 a run for the money.
I just wonder how cool it really is when running a graphics-intensive game.
Very promising, though, for those of us who hate having a jumbo box under the desk just for gaming...wtg Asus!
just so you know a computer with this specs appeared on ebay for pre-order for 1700 dollars. just saying... i dont know if its the same tho.... didnt seem as slick as it seems on the photo you guys have
@Bennyaltuca oh, and its assu.. :P it might be the exact same model. i would like to buy it but ill wait untill september or so for prices to drop on laptops a bit and also i need to save some money for it :P
If the big bottom keeps it from overheating, I'm all for it.
