RED - it is da*n BLACK!
i need that back now guys
does anyone know where to find investor information in RED?
are they listed?
@(Unverified) Privately owned by Jim Jannard, founder of Oakley. Don't see that changing any time soon - The guy owns his own Island!
It's also why the Red one is $30K for a something that could easily cost 100+ on sony or panavision.
For those that want to know why this is not a canon 7d...

@Prowl Your comment related to Sony & Co. is inaccurate. You will run into several limitations with a Red package you only spent 30 grand on, not to mention the fact that the 4:4:4 codec Sony & Co. uses is better, although requiring more expensive hardware.
@Unverified User Red uses uncompressed 4k 4:4:4 RAW. And the better codec is totally subjective. The point is a Sony 4k will run at 200k and you need a 100k suite to edit it. My red cost me 30k and a mac pro edits in 4k on the fly no problem.
@Prowl The video the Red camera captures is neither uncompressed nor is it 4:4:4, nor is it the same traditional RAW that SLR cameras such as Nikon or Canon capture at. I wish it were, but it isn't. The compression ratio is somewhere near 12:1. You do not need 200 grand for an alternative... The price differences these days aren't that different any more. $40-50,000 is more like it, but the bodies in this range come with more options than a Red does... Real time hardware options that are incredibly useful, and Red will eventually have to incorporate these options if they want to compete in the future. We'll see what this Epic has. The post production needs aren't really any different than that needed for a Red, at least after the imagery is transferred to the computer. There is no subjectivity between the two codecs/capture methods, it is an absolute. This is not saying the Red is a bad camera by any means... For what it is, it's a great solution. If the new Scarlett FF is as promised, I will probably get one. It looks to be a great option for side and personal work.
If you stuck legs on that thing, it could attack the Rebel Base on Hoth.
No wonder why photographers often have a bad reputation. It's photographers acting like this disrespecting manic ass while doing their job. I kept wanting to shout, dude easy easy! The guys acts like he is going to have a heart attack!
Best Engadget video I've seen in awhile. Fun and lots of info
Doesn't the red design remind you of something you'd have to find in a video game? Like something out Resident Evil or Silent Hill...
Red.

This company is incredible.
