Zune software references rumored Project Pink devices, a video upload service?
We weren't sure things could get any more interesting with Microsoft's mobile rumor mill, but along comes Zune Boards with some tantalizing findings in the latest Zune software update. First up is the eEndpointFamily files, which lists all the compatible hardware -- ZuneHD, for example. Also found, however, were entries for "PmxPure" and "PmxTurtle." PMX, if you recall, seems to be a reference to Microsoft's
Premium Mobile eXperiences group, the remnants of the Danger acquisition who have been whispered to be working on Project Pink. As for Pure and Turtle, let's go back all the way to September 2009, when we first heard those names as the initial Pink duo -- there were some supposed renders, too. If that's not enough, two PMX table entries pointed to a snippet of text stating that "Studio members" can "View and manage pictures and videos taken with your phone at the Studio," followed by a link that for now redirects to Zune.net. Could the mysterious Project Pink and the oft-rumored "Zune phone" be one in the same, with some "Studio" service for uploading media to the cloud? Is this all some red herring perpetuated by some amused Microsoft staffers? We don't know, but it's mean to tug at our heart strings like that, Microsoft, and worse that it makes Mobile World Congress even more painful to wait for. #tmdp

Man, I actually thought those Turtle and Pure renders looked alright. Not oozing with sexy, but simple and great for tweens.
However, throw in Zune and Xbox live... I'm game. :0)
As long as it is a zune hd with a phone (and a physical keyboard *wink* *wink*) and NOT those images we saw a few months back that looked like deformed sidekicks.....I might just have to do this http://bit.ly/6CvMTA with my BlackBerry. (and POSSIBLY stop drooling over android)
@KeegdnaB Also, VERIZON!!!!!
Seriously
Yay! The new Rumour ramp up.
I'm looking forward to writing mobile apps in a relatively sane programming language.
What's the point of a ZunePhone when you've got the iPad?
@sonicyoof you mean the iDoNothing?
@sonicyoof The actual *phone* part. >_>
What is a zune?
@logic thinker
really?
@stonewall12345678 frankly im surprised it took this long for someone to make the obligatory comment. for some reason a lot of people still think that is clever.
Plz, oh plz, oh plz, oh plz.
Zune Phone: You're my only hope
(Well, besides Android)
i hope microsoft sells this zune phone thing worldwide, like google nexus1...
Here we go. Prepare for yourself for bombarded news and rumors of the 'Zune Phone' and Windows Mobile 7 for the next fews weeks up to the MWC. It's a nice change though after all thoe iPad news and rumors.
@aimran
If only that were true.
Microsoft's video upload service will be called "ZuneZone"
@Comment
Lol that would be a terrible name.
References are nice and all, but let's See The Product Already!
One AND the same.
This many or may not mean anything but if you go to the Twitter account "ZunePhone", their tweets are protected. Before Bill Gates went public with his Twitter account, his account was on protected.

Maybe MS can start by shipping the Zune worldwide, and support non-Windows OS.
@pika2000
How about you try Boot Camp & 7? Actually, my MBP ran Windows better than OS X....
@jin and guice Why should I spend more money for Windows just to run the Zune software? I thought MS is all about interoperability.
@pika2000
Because zune + mac isn't going to happen; it's just too small a market. Expanding into Europe is a way better use of resources.
What's funny here is that the new WinMo devices will come out and a lot of people will say MS has done a wonderful job....look at all it can do....and then about a month later Apple and Google will come out with just the updated OS's for their existing phones and make the new MS devices look 2 years old again.
Reminder, MS is only coming out with the WinMo OS...all devices are created by partner manufacturers who license the OS...look at how many device makers have stepped up and said they are ready to bring out a WMo7 phone...this should give you a pretty good clue as to whether there is something real to believe in here.
I think PMX is actually extreme irritability before a woman's menstrual cycle.
I see Draco.. Draco is the title of the project between Dish network and Microsoft. They were creating a TV tuner to access Dish's content. That's weird how that particular name would show up in Zune software!
If only someone could find methods for GPU access to the tegra using reflector in the xna zune assembly =(
Wow, a MS post.
For all we know, MS may introduce Zune phone and windows 7 mobile as separate units. lots of mobile companies offer more them one SO on them mobile devices, like HTC has Android and Windows mobile they offer. they may have Zune may be exclusive to Microsoft. that is what I'm hoping for
