Nokia's Symbian^3 touchscreen flagship leaked?
What does that look like to you? Sure looks like a probable Nokia flagship candidate for the upcoming launch of Symbian^3 to ride. Remember, we've already heard about a N8-00 said to be sporting a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, 12 megapixel camera, and HDMI-out. This unnamed device features a 12 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss optics, an HDMI jack next to a top-mounted 3.5-mm headphone jack, and a bottom-loading battery allowing the phone to keep a unibody design (a la the HTC Legend). The screen is big, at least 3.5 inches and possibly hovering around 4 inches. Oh, and a QWERTY is nowhere to be found. So Nokia, got anything you'd like to announce?
Update: Eldar Murtazin, a man who knows a thing or two about pre-production Nokia devices, says the N8-00 is real and due in September.

Ugly as it can be....maybe as it is a prototype they will change the final product.
@Kohai it is ugly...
am i the only one noticing that they sorta ripped the Mini5?
Good thing Mini5 is a slab of secks.
@AlexSanchez
And you think Nokia "riped" Dell in less than 3 months?
Don't you think Nokia has had this prototype for more than that?
And yes it looks ugly, being a prototype does that to gadgets.
@Kohai
the ugliest of all...
extruded camera module and the side gray bars are not good at all. also didn't like the raised ring around the black screen area.
and it better be ~15mm thick.
@Kohai
It's not ugly to me... I think Nokia is trying to work off the design cues of the E71 and E72 which people really seemed to like... and I personally like the shape and angularity. I don't need it to look like every other phone. Go Nokia. Too bad it will never be CDMA or I'd get it off contract.
@Kohai Not ugly... I think it is far better looking than most of the recently launched devices by Nokia. They done something different already with their design and this will appease most of the people that are looking for a iPhone like device but dont want to be tied to that horrible piece of crapware that is called iTunes...
@Mr w00t btw, if you look closely at the pictures it seems that this unit has the same finish as the E72, meaning a rubberized gray cover on the back.
If this is the case we can see different colors coming up and different models. Would be cool to have a red one :)
@Kohai I think it looks like that screen can totally pop out sidekick style, according to some of the pics
@Mr w00t Sry for hijacking the thread but I dint see this pointed out anywhere:
In the fifth picture, what is that on the left?
I see a notification light on the right (similar to my n900), A forward facing camera in the middle & what is that on the left?
Also ppl who complain abt thickness in regards to Nokia phones, Compare the parts to the competition. Aside from better antena, battery and over-all reliability/performance, only SE competes in Image and optics quality.
since you cannot defy the laws of physics, there have to be compromises somewhere and imho 3-4mm does not matter that much if it improves the quality of the product.
@Kohai
or maybe this might be the next phone from nokia...
there're already running 'Design by Community' campaign here: http://conversations.nokia.com/design-by-community/
look for the slider options available and the best you can choose matches the specification of this device.
so i think nokia will launch this device saying, we heard you!
just a crazy idea :D
@Irfan Samuel
you say that like the camera is in the way, when its the focus of the device! Like saying "That extruded diamond on your wedding ring is too big".
Nice, I am curious...
Is that a physical button at the bottom?
@(Unverified) I'm just hoping that this is just the prototype... I keep my hopes up about the new symbian platform based on the sideglances and video impressions we had last month: http://bit.ly/new-symbian-platform-3rd-power
Interesting...
And in Unwired view they have more photos....not convincing look and fingerprint magnet.
Also ¿no camera protection? It really seems like a very early proto to me.
Wow, this is sort of non-Nokia looking. Interesting.
You can clearly see some sharp edges and hint of white background there. Someone cut&pasted it (rather poorly) from original picture. Real thing will looks much better and that's prototype for sure.
@Suomaa I just did some screen measuring and it looks like it has 0.6 aspect ratio display so WVGA is possible.
It looks like a slider.
@KingFaisal94 that's because it is one.
@gargle Read the article. -.-
Looks like 12mpix cam with xenon. This will be a killer cameraphone.
Doesn't look very flagship to me.
@tracdoor
flagship is usually evident by its capabilities and robustness, not its appearance. But hey, I get where you're coming from. I just think you equate high end to mean some of the popular devices in the US instead of the ones globally available with the most power. Looks can be deceiving.
not the prettiest phone in the world but it's nice to see SOMETHING coming from nokia.
The first thought was: That's an LG phone, not from Nokia.
Looks very LG/Sony Ericsson if you ask me. It's clearly a prototype.
Flagship, Sinkingship, it's all the same thing at this point.
@7egend I dont know if you are one of those people that find your wife with another guy in bed and lie to yourself that they just tripped and fall together on bed while the clothes were ripped off at the same time or you just like to piss other people off...
In case you are the first case, Nokia grew its market share, in case you are the second case... well... get a life?!
FINALLY, the Nokia has come back to...
@Biggs If ya smell what the Nokia is cookin'
@Biggs
YES!!! FINALLY!
@Biggs who wants to go ONE on ONE with the Great ONE?
Wow can't wait for this one. HDMI out, 12mpx 3.5-4inch capacitive!!!!!
It's supposed to be prushed aluminium if the rumours are right. Imo it looks as sturdy as it can. Can't wait!!
@Pdexter
absolutely, this thing is gonna be sick!
@fokka
Sick indeed. Having Symbian aboard is a pretty severe disability.
Now thats a what a call a proper touchscreen phone, Finaly a Xenon Flash, thats what I want.
Now I have 2 phones to choose from (when that are released) This or XT720 Motoroi.
Nice on Nokia & Motorola.
Btw does it have Xenon flash ir am i seeing things?
@Pdexter, are those metal screws beside the shutter button and micorusb port?
@Biggs its a prototype, not a final build. They may keep it like that because it is repeatedly removed for checkups, but will look better in final dress.
Also, remember how the Nokia Tube, aka 5800 looked when we posted the first images on Symbian-Freak? The final device was totally different housing than before. They may be trying different camera mechanisms for lens protection, and this may just be one of many. Look at the N97 vs the N97 Mini, both obviously developed side by side.
Holy s*it, that is one ugly duck! Wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole.
@jussipussi
That's a prototype.
And you could probably go back to hop.omena.
@Eric P
Don't try to reason with him, he's a Nokia-hating troll.
@jussipussi
You really have the energy to comment negatively on every single post about nokia? I feel sorry for you. What was it that made you so hardbroken?
@btdt
I mean heartbroken :)
@Eric P
I'm not sure if he really qualifies as a triple-F (Finnish Fruity Fanboi), but a Nokia-hater, most definitely. Probably got rejected by them at some point. A rare feat, that.
I think it looks sweet. It's shadey spy pics of a prototype. This same thing happened with E71 that in the end was +10 million seller and looked 10x better than the prototype pic.
This with brushed alimium with aluminium white and i'm sold. This is what the 20 million N95 buyers have been waiting for 3 years. 12mpx, xenon flash, at least OMAP3, HDMI out, around 16mm, capacitive with 16 million colors, maybe AMOLED as the original rumour stated,
Looks so nicely build. Can't wait to get in my hands.
my N95 8GB is still running strong, but I am willing to replace it with this beast!
Finally!!! Something leaked from nokia !!!! i know that nothing confirmed yet but things like this makes me hold my upgrade!
Hurry up nokia! hurry up!!!
It really seems like the E7 will be announced with this. It will be hard choice between those two. If this really got the rumoured 4inch AMOLED screen then it's a no brainer for me.
