Samsung Wave is world's first DivX HD phone, Galaxy S in a hurry to be world's second

Want some DivX-encoded 720p goodness on your fancy new superphone? Samsung will be the way to go, at least in the short term. The Korean company has announced that its Bada-infused Wave handset will be the first phone with certified support for DivX HD playback, with the freshly announced, Android-driven, Galaxy S following up at an unspecified point in time. Guess we're finally going to get the content to do justice to those spectacular Super AMOLED displays. It does playback 720p, I have the phone.
I am a moderator @ the i8910 forums.
Google it and search for proper encoding settings for 720p playback.

i know it plays some 720p videos, otherwise it couldn't play what it records :P

anyway i don't see what the point of 720p playback is on a phone with no HDMI-out. a huge waste of gigabytes. 700MB movies look just fine on phones.

It looks like the OS on my Samsung Impression. These phones are complete garbage!!!! The Iphone is a million times better than this crappy samsung devices. Do not buy this phone! I am not an Iphone homer or techie but believe me, you will regret buying a samsung smartphone/dumphone because they suck! I hate that bottom bar on samsung phones.

Isn't Divx HD just H264 video inside a Divx container? I think its different than regular Divx files.

If thats the case, this seems kind of useless. Who uses the Divx Hd container?

Then you would not want any camera up from vga in a phone......with a display less than vga...you can not see 2mpx in a phone display (no in the current ones).

What about not having to convert formats??

What about streaming content to other device??

What about previewing your recorded 720p video?
