Feelings about the
leaked HP Slate notwithstanding, the company's already considering its tablet PC successors -- and if
The New York Times' sources are right, they may be of Android and Linux varieties. Where the forthcoming HP Slate is, erm, slated to
run Windows 7, The Grey Lady reported last week that a
six-inch Android tablet was also on the way. Now, a prominent magazine editor reportedly tells the paper a Linux version may also be in development. For its part, HP isn't denying the claims. "I'm certain that we will be announcing new Slates in the future as they are a very interesting area for us," said media relations director Marlene Somsak, whose only added caveat was that HP isn't
currently announcing an Android slate.
@exsonic None what so ever my friend. This product takes all the negatives of a net book and makes them worse
Maybe they should just not waste shelf space on this joke of a product. You guys where on your heels when creAting it. Made a huge mistake running windows on it. Just give up.
Why are the tablets getting smaller? Any smaller and they're just another Palm Pilot.
@gerrrg I know what you mean, I have an archos 5 and a wibrain and I want something bigger but not "laptop" bigger - the 8"-10" scale seems perfect to me
something that a lot of people here aren't getting is this: I want the slate with win7. Why because I want a more portable platform to carry with me that allows me to use full applications. If the processor makes them slightly underpowered, that's fine - that's why I ALSO have a full blown laptop. The last thing I want is a machine that is a gadgety internet machine, I want something that can run real applications and that I can use to do real things with. I use a wibrain b1h right now with XP and I love it but the screen is really small so I want something bigger.
Who cares about tablets?
Tablets are just a temporary market. Guaranteed the future will be larger communication devices like the Evo 4G, Dell Streak, Dell Looking Glass, etc.
