Generally speaking, I don't see a lot of improvement seeing movies in theaters vs watching in my home theater on Blu Ray. However, I watched Avatar last night on BR. It was nice but NOWHERE near the experience on watching it in 3D. If done right (major caveat), I think 3D is a huge step forward.

Doesn't feel like the jump from SD to HD. Almost like they couldn't think of anywhere else to go but 3D.
