Hulu headed to a Xbox 360 dashboard near you?
From its humble origins as a chunky black box of PC parts, the Xbox has grown into a strapping young adult -- attracting a social circle including Netflix, Facebook and Twitter. Now, rumor has it that the Xbox 360's preening for a date with Hulu, too. Though plans aren't set in stone, Gear Live tells us Hulu has been spotted in internal Xbox 360 dashboard builds, and that Microsoft will introduce the streaming video service as part of their Xbox LIVE experience at E3 2010. The publication is mighty certain here, but at this point we can't corroborate for ourselves. If this does end up happening, the question is how much it might cost, as we hear there's going to be some sort of fee -- perhaps Hulu will be part of that "Xbox LIVE Platinum Tier" rumor that gets dragged out most every year.

not to my CANADIAN dashboard it isn't
@tylersmyler
You can say that again, I always hate hearing about new features because Canada is always cut out of the picture.
@Plazmic Flame Mexico is cut out of the picture too.
@tylersmyler
you do relize its not hulu nor microsoft stoping this comming to canada its our copyright laws that portect us see in canada its not totaly illgal to take shit off the webs and their is also a buntch of outher copyright laws that i wont get into but the basic diffrence is that the company is us basied and our copy right laws differ (and for the best) but its because of this they are slow if not never released here
@The Joker Mine please!
BTW, that's bull that you have to pay extra, unless they're taking out the ads or something. Even then, I rarely use it. I'd rather have Fancast so I can watch Comcast on-demand content too, along with everything Hulu has.
@jesster202
jesster202... Canadian Cable (and sat) companys pay thousands, if not more, to US cable companys, and most of the shows are here either on a canadian network like CTV, A, etc or a network duplicated here like Discovery, CNN, HGTV, all offering the same shows on their websites...
The copyright crap may be true for some countries, but is sure as hell not for Canada :l
@tylersmyler I have Hulu in Canada—but I pay for a VPN service.
@jesster202 Jesus Christ! Steal some books off the internet.
@tylersmyler
:( Sucks that its not coming to Canada.
You already know whats going to happen here. The people paying for XBox live will get this for 'free'. Xbox Live online gaming and other services are about to become free for everyone. You will only pay for extra features like Hulu, Netflix and other premium services they are adding in - ie if you want to pay the $50 ($35 on amazon) a year you get the extras, otherwise you can play online and do the basics for free.
Mark my word in a few days MS will announce XBox Live becoming free for everyone and premium services will be what costs money. They want to be competitive with Sony's internet plan even though it's halfa$$ed compared to Xbox Live.
@Aklex7 I have heard it's way more than this, but it's still a ridiculous line of logic to me once it goes paid.
The example below won't be for an xbox live bundle, but for the more common Hulu going paid:
Imagine being able to charge 10USD to each Canadian that wants your service, if they get it for all 12 months, that's 120USD. Just 1 million customers and that's 120million, 500k customers for 12 months and 2million customers for 6 months and that's still 120million. Not to mention the possibility (hopefully not) of ads. Also, in this example, there would still be content to sell because you are only serving the content to 1-2 million households and millions more want to see it (I don't know the actual viewing figures of Canada but I have looked at "24" in the UK and it just seemed ridiculous that one of the main exports paled in comparison to alternative options).
IMHO direct sales will always lead to more profitability if you have low costs of distribution, there's no reason to have a middle man, especially when it involves an exclusive deal. All we are doing is taking changing part of the exclusive deal away as they'll still have exclusive TV broadcasting rights.
@SskyNnet
slovakia is cut out of the picture too.... mmm souvlaki...
@tylersmyler Stop your whining at least you have free health care.
@malexandria1
Its not free. They pay over 60% in taxes... but I guess that doesn't matter to someone that lives in their parents basement.
@malexandria1 hahha. please dont tell me you are a supporter of obamas health care! plz! i pay 140 a month for my health care, which is less then 5 percent of my monthly salary, plus 25-28 percent taxes. which equals 30-33 percent of my salary for taxes and health care. where as countries like canada and the like that have government run health care pay above and beyond 50 percent in taxes in most cases. i think america has the longer stick in this situation. AND WE GET HULU ON XBOX SOON. hopefully
Cool.
@Errrric
Beans.
Yesss! I can finally use hulu on something I know wont lag down!

Sold. Bye bye cable.
Still probably need to have Gold membership.. On-top of that what hulu will be charing for subscriptions.
@JonsMind I'm down with that, if it is included in the cost of Gold Membership.
Keep the ads in there Hulu, I don't mind them - in fact I VASTLY prefer them to paying for shows I could see for free if I was at home on the couch instead of working.
Come on Sony! Get on it!
@FunkieChunkieMunkie Hulu worked just fine on the PS3, until the fine folks at Hulu blocked it.
Sony isn't the problem.
That would be pretty cool depending on the cost..... but I still would rather have a zune video pass.
@jagowar
They should make a Microsoft Bundle, W7, WM7, XBOX, Zune, and the subscriptions services for each. charged monthly to my credit card.
lol well im never getting off my ass again XD
@Ralven amen
This sounds incredibly cool, however I already pay for netflix and XBL - I'm not willing to directly pay for another service at this point.
I would ditch cable so fast for this! If the price is reasonable of course.
Been hearing this for years now..just Google it.
Sweet.
Oh, this is totally irrelevant, but the Xbox 360 dashboard is crap. It looks nice and is organized well, but it is freaking slow. Things take ages to pop up and load. It's not acceptable.
@Apple Fan Plus half of the dashboard consist of Ads...
@JonsMind ads where you can expect ads.. it's very organized.. you know what you want you find it fast. plus it always has new videos some of them interesting, some of them fun, some of them just to watch something.
@Apple Fan Or your internet connection is slow
@Apple Fan
Please everyone, do not feel the trolls.
@admlshake
agreed. feeling the trolls will only excite them further. please do not feel the trolls.
I had a random thought that Apple introduced a gaming console. :o. it would be 2012 when that happens (and the world will blow up or at least bad things would happen)
@prodigypv
Was it called Pippen or something like that?
@majg iCore
It wa called the iGameStation or iGS... LOL
@prodigypv
Apple already had a game console called the pippen. And apple usually does not try things twice
@DefPoet
So... iPhone/iPad is not a second try on Newton...
Finally hulu on my TV.
If this comes along with that promised ability to use it as a U-Verse set top box, I will never leave my room again
nice!!!!... I love Hulu!! if it's a subscription that can be used on my xbox, phone, ipad.. then it's alright... if the cost is already included in my xbox gold, even better (why they would do that?, sony's new premium live will bring a few extra things, this will be a good way to add features to our subscription)
i almost dropped my laptop out of shock and elation. that would be friggin incredible.
Wait... how does this person have zero gamerscore? Is that even possible? Just kill yourself now, Scout.
Get your wallets ready! Oh, 360 users always have them out....
That's great news. I hope PS3 does the same. Actually I hope PS3 gets the Netflix app as well, so I can just completely stop using my 360.
I think Hulu need to realize how big they really are and start expanding. Right now Hulu are really limiting themselves to the PC (Personal Computer). They need to start making things for iPads and iPhones.
Also all gaming consuls. More money for them.
@John Lennon
You can get a Netflix disk from Netflix that will let you play the watch it now movies on it....
