NVIDIA shows 16 new Optimus laptops at Computex, teases GTX 460M GPU
Just in case you were wondering where and when you might get a taste of the Optimus elixir, NVIDIA has handed us a detailed list of Computex debutants that will be taking the graphics switching technology with them to retail. A total of sixteen new Optimus machines are on show in Taipei, and although ASUS is still the biggest purveyor (with six SKUs, not counting previously announced products), Lenovo and Acer have also jumped on board, with the IdeaPad Y460 and a pair of Packard Bell EasyNotes, respectively. Notably, the FX700 above from MSI is marked as using an "unannounced" next-gen graphics chip, which we suspect might be the GTX 460M, a mobile GPU that NVIDIA is showing, but not talking about yet. Guess that'll be slotting in just below the recently unveiled GTX 480M. We've got pictorial evidence of the 460M's existence after the break, along with the full list of new Optimus-ized machines, which you can also scope out in the gallery below.

Why is there no Optimus netbook on the list?
@janeapple
Because its called ION 2. Its ION with Optimus.
@janeapple Bah! Who needs Optimus laptops when there are Optimus keyboards! http://www.engadget.com/tag/optimus+maximus/
erm... eew
GLARE GLARE GLARE GLARE GLARE
If I want a mirror, I'll buy one without a CPU, kthx. :(
@Elbart
So true, so true !
That's why I'm trying to hook up an external gpu to a professional looking business notebook with a decent non-glare ips display as gaming rig...
All I want is a new mini 311 with optimus/ion 2 :/
I wish the HP Envy 14 coming out had Optimus :(
The N43 is mine... does anyone know of a release date for these?
Like anytime before the end of the year?
Do they all come with Android as the head of nVidia wants all of us to get behind that OS. Sod Windows even though thats where nVidia made a shed load of money. The guy seems to come across as an idiot who's been bought off.
@Excalibur
He was talking about tablets, these are laptops.
@Kleptomaniac
Whoops. Good point there
and they're still really really really ugly laptops
I love how nVidia has turned intel's integrated graphics into an nVidia platform. Intel attempted to make nVidia's IGP obsolete by forcing everyone to buy Intel's IGP with the CPU, instead nVidia hijacked Intel's IGP and renamed it Optimus. :) pretty slick move on nVidia's part if you ask me.
I really have been wanting a light 13.3 or 14" notebook with at least the 330M in it. Looks like the Gateway ID49C is a new one that might fit the category. Gateway hasn't been on my radar, as I've been looking at mainly the Asus laptops that only have the 310 GPUs. Gateway make decent laptops?
Might just finally settle for a 310 chip for the longer battery life on the Asuses. UL30Jt. I was hoping for exciting stuff coming out of this show.
YESSS college laptop here I come. Something that will take notes all day and not sacrifice on the game? I'm there.
@FallenArms3 Well, as long as they push these out quickly, dangit.
Wheres the M11x?! :(
@fahdriyami Alienware has reserved a table at E3 Expo starting June 15th... It is expected to formally anounce the m11x R1 with the Ci3-7um CPU and possibly some other upgrades. so don't fret just yet :)
ANYONE ELSE SEE THE TAG LOOKS LIKE IT SAYS "WINDOWS 8"!
I know I used all caps for a reason and its probably a glare or the flash that made the 8. lol
Too bad Asus didn't reveal a gaming laptop with the GTX 480M.
The Asus N43 that they revealed will probably have one of the lower derivatives of the GTX 480M.
/waiting for Optimus and not the hardware disabled version of the 1201pn.
the problem is that the envy has ati instead of nvidia graphics inside.
460M GTX i wonder how much Cores we have
In the words of the Spaceballs...When will then be now? Soon?
Gateway ID49C looks damn nice :D
