Nexus One,
EVO 4G,
Droid and
Dream sure, but the
Acer Liquid? Yes, the underclocked Snapdragon slate that never made it stateside has just received its own Android 2.2 port. Though still in early alpha with no Wi-Fi or camera functionality and plenty of bugs to boot, the freshly frozen yogurt has the Liquid turning tricks already -- with very playable-looking framerates in
Raging Thunder II and
Flash video support. Early adopters note that the phone isn't terribly stable at higher CPU frequencies, so don't expect to push that processor much higher than stock, but even 768MHz is reportedly nice and snappy when you're running Android 2.2. Video proof after the break, and you'll find the unfinished ROM at our more coverage link if you're the adventurous sort. [Thanks, Miroslav]
Aww....
i wanted a 1.2GHz Snapdragon
@MarcinK how is an underclocked CPU unstable when you bring it up to normal speed? Did Acer buy defective CPUs and underclock them so that they work?
@NikAmi I am pretty sure you can get the snapdragon chipset in different speeds if you are a company like acer and ask kindly. Also I they run at different voltage to lower the power usage, the higher clock speeds need more juice to be stable
I think his hard disks are about to fail.
When can those with the Relish Milestone expect to get some froyo goodness? Are we talking about a month or two, three? And can we get all the 2.2 features? I didn't get much from the 2.1 update, not even the enhanced music player....
Boom headshot.
one interesting thing about the flash implementation in Android is that you can set plugins to on demand , this is like using a flash blocker in firefox , the flash content opens only when you click on it {by default it shows a blank screen}
a great way to get performance for everyday use and use flash stuff only when it's needed , Kudos to google for doing this ,it should be the default option IMO !!!
froyo is getting around! This gives me hope to see out end up on my device sooner than later, well its already there but not ready for everyday use

It is nice to see that Android 2.2 is being easily ported to more devices outside our XDA friends' circle of HTC devices. I hope we get to see some more fantastic devices later this year, or even an Acer Liquid 2 stateside with the new Qualcomm dual core Snapdragon.
