Notion Ink Adam 'on track' for Q3 after all, may have 'more aggressive price'
Thought the Notion Ink Adam was delayed yet again? So did we, but founder Rohan Shravan just cleared up all that nonsense with a new update. If you've been pining for a Pixel Qi screen, you'll be happy to know the Tegra 2 tablet is still on track for Q3, and will be joined by a cheaper LCD version around the same period. Celebrating his good fortune at securing investment, Shravan teased lower prices and a third, more battery efficient Notion Ink as well, but on this last point even he agrees he might be getting ahead of himself. Honestly, at this point we'd be happy to see even a single retail unit -- we're already getting distracted by alternatives.
Updated: We just heard from Rohan again and he tells us that the Adam will likely run Froyo. Instead of Google's Market for apps, Notion Ink has its own content and application store called Genesis. We pressed him for more exact timing and pricing, but apparently our charming personalities couldn't get him to give up anymore at the moment.

I am totally reconciled, will wait/buy and be happy for evver after.
my interest in this item is waning with each passing day.
How about a 4:3 version. What exactly is the point of the PixelQi + Widescreen combination? So I can watch very bad looking movies for a very long time?
@goneblank
No one but Apple is going to do a 4:3 version.
There is no bullet point when you have a 4:3 screen. Widescreens give you bullet points.
(Apple made the right choice though)
I'm about to give up on any tablet showing up in my lifetime. I may just buy the Asus Eee PC T101MT install Windows 7, bump the ram up to 2GB, and install a fast SSD drive. Do that and you get a fast convertable tablet with stylus or finger input that gets about 6.5 hours run time (but weighs around 2.8 lbs).
What I was waiting on was either this tablet, the Hanvon, the Wee Pad, or the Huawei S7 all of which are not even on the radar for a release.
@Crusader Rabbit Why?
The netbook is $499. It needs at least 32GB SDD to be comfortable: $115 on amazon. W7 home premium will cost you $119. It already has 2GB ram. Total cost: about $733.
For that price you get (quote from a review): "It’s also no performer, either, with opening windows sluggish, 480p YouTube video pushing CPU use to 100-percent, and a 10 to 15-percent CPU load even when the netbook is sitting idle. The touchscreen, meanwhile, shows a worrying lack of accuracy around the edges"
And lets not forget: A regular crap TN LCD panel instead of pixel qi. A 4cell 2400mAh battery wich will get you nowhere near 16hours HD video playback.
I didn't buy the iPad, and I won't buy the other ones!
Even if this is not competing with iPad, worth the specs for the intended price. If Notion Ink has the experience and expertize of Apple in manufacturing electronic products, we will definitely have much better products by now. Like Dell/HP/Acer played major role marketing PCs across the globe, Notion Ink can take advantage of various innovations and package them in such a manner it is affordable and with reasonable quality.
NOT Windows 7 for the win.
Mr. Gowindra cabled you need tablets, stop. My office instructed to advance release up to three months, stop. Hurrah and Merry Krishnashtami! Sam Waghwright
Great news!
