iMovie hits iTunes App Store, only for iPhone 4 (update)
Update: Oddly enough, we're not actually seeing iMovie in the App Store on our iPhone 4 -- only in the desktop client.
[Thanks, Joel]

@bob1000
yup, its gonna be available for iPad 2G next April for $9.99. just kidding..
on a serious note..the iPad doesnt have a camera so what would u use iMovie for.
@bob1000
And what camera would the iPad use? Don't worry though I'm sure it will make iPad 2.
@bob1000 I think it would.
Editing would be really nice on the iPad. Of course it would require more features and a larger work space which would be pretty awesome.
Same reason scrabble has an iPhone/iPad cooperative app. I think it is a pretty safe bet that iPad owners have iPhones.
MAGICAL GLASS SANDWICH!

Not in the UK store yet it seems, neither is the Apple Store app for that matter.
I cant believe Apple charges for a app that they used to promote the phone...
@zeleznikj There were a whole bunch of apps used to promote the phone. A lot by third parties.
I don't agree with your logic for them offering it for free. What I can't believe is that they offer it for free on their computers and not on the phone even though the phone version is a much more limited product.
And of course, Apple will now reject all apps that will potentially compete with iMovie, especially free apps.
Not showing up for me either. Granted this post is dated for tomorrow... Maybe only uk right now?
It's not live in Cali. And my iPhone is nice.
why cant i NOT find it?
am i doing something wrong?
i have an iPhone 4.
i am supposed to look for it on the computer and not on the actual mobile device?!
@angelnilo06 haha found it!
Boo. Why can't Apple support the 3GS? Sure, it has less memory and slower processor, but then again you will only be editing VGA movies on the 3GS. I don't see why that's not doable.
I thought this came with the new iphone for free?
@Hydra Its all about nicker and dime...
@anotherworld
Ohhhh...herro!
I was trying to find this in the app store earlier. Guess I know why I couldn't now lol
Got it! It's in app store on iPhone 4 in the photography section....
WOW, now I'm shocked. Not even the iPhone 3GS???
If Engadget put as much effort into all the wonders of the technology world as it does Apple, this would be the single best tech site in the world.
Until then, you guys are little sparse and a little fruity, if you know what i mean.
I love you guys, hire some editors, step it up. You can do it.
@GriffinS Are you the same idiot that has posted that on the att Facebook page?
While I understand that the ipad doesn't have a camera, coudnt it still be a device to edit on?all that screen realestate going to waste. I'd much rather deal with trimming clips and adding effects/previewing final products on something AT LEAST the ipad's size.
And it does seem like kind of a kick in the face to 3gs users to not let them have this aswell...
and here you go

5 bucks is not of big deal
If it was free nobody would even talk about it.
I've been using iMovie for Mac it's quite complete software for an entry level.
iMovie is being released at midnight per your local time zone. Pretty funny since it's hump day.... Hmmmmm
I just want to let everyone know,
I'm commenting this on my iPhone 4.
and it's fucking beautiful.
I've just got up now I have to go sell you lot ur new fones
@GriffinS
Yeah, you've been posting this on multiple articles. Stop trying to get views by spamming a URL around.
More launch issues... Apple is majorly f*ing this up. First there are QC issues on the phones themselves (discolored screens, design defect with the antenna band), then preorder fiascos, now the iMovie app not even properly showing up right in iTunes... nevermind the iOS4 bugs and software issues.
Total fail... if you fanboys can't acknowledge these issues, you're massively delusional and quite frankly... stupid.
@Evster88 sIR. i HAVE AN IPHONE 4 and i dont have any of the issues you mentioned.
@FrankDTank Maybe you dont but many others do
What a rip off charging 5 bucks for iMovie...Should of been free. For that i just edit the movie on Mac iMovie.
@anotherworld But what if you really really really need to make a really important holiday compilation video on the train, or on the way to work? Oh wait...
All right. Just in time. I finally get the chance to my make my home porn videos look attractive.
You can find it under photography and top paid apps. Like 5 or 6 down.
Now you can watch, film, and edit porn all on one device!
Our i4's are the bomb!!! Thanks for the early delivery.
If only there were a pornography section for itunes. Think of the profits for apple!
To get to iMovie on your iPhone, follow this link through the browser on your iPhone - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imovie/id377298193?mt=8 - weird, but it works.
3GS owners can just use Reel Director which has more features than iMovie for iPhone anyways.
You can't seem to search for it on the iphone itself but if you look through categories it is the first one under photography.
I found it in the App Store, just went to the page on Apple's site showing the features of the HD video recording and there's a link that takes you to it in the App Store in the paragraph about iMovie.
Just discovered this tip: when shooting b-roll to use in an iMovie for iPhone 4, set your volume to ZERO or it will use the ambient sound from the b-roll shot, reducing or even eliminating the soundtrack.
Look under the top 25 list and it's near the top.
Also, I found this out on my 3GS which was odd...
I got it from the top apps list.
is anybody else bothered by the fact you can ONLY use this if you share your location!? WTF is my location have anything to do with editing my photos or videos?! REALLY uncool.
Overall... iPhone's camera looks better than Droid X's.
The photo and video comparisons both: http://briefmobile.com/iphone-4-vs-droid-x-camera-test
And video side by side when you split the Droid x and iPhone recordings. I like the inclusion of a Droid X narration microphone though. NICE touch.
