If you haven't caught up on the story (and if that's the case, where have you been?), here's a little background on the issue in reverse chronological order:

i dont understand y people are commenting as if they havent seen flaws in any other phone, no phone manufacturer would want to purposefully add flaw in a phone, apple have been experimenting with tech and v all liked it all along n now when a flaw noticed v r blaming as if it was intentional....or the worst flaw...

It's not so much that other phones don't have flaws, it's the fact that Apple is denying they have a design flaw in the iPhone 4. They are blaming customers for holding it wrong, the formula for displaying bars wrong, and telling customers to buy a case to mask the issue. Basically, they are not taking responsibility for their design flaw and instead of coming clean, they are trying to cover it up. Let's hope they do the right thing tomorrow.

I'm willing to guess that this conference is going to be about how many iphone 4s were sold and about the upcoming release date of the white iphone model (like a previous poster stated) with a modified antenna and maybe the new ipod touch.

As long as you're holding the press conference and not the phone, all is well.
Apple has a name and reputation in the market, Am sure it wont let down its loyal customers. This is the time to prove that they abide by ethics.

THEY CAN'T GIVE OUT FREE BUMPERS! That would be admitting a hardware problem without offering to fix the hardware. That would make things worse for them. Then in a few months when fresh batches of iPhone4 have the issue fixed, everyone will demand a new one.
Free bumpers are NOT the fix.

Yea, all those fanboys who say it's no issue and that they use a case anyways, will go back to the Apple Store to demand a new hardware-fixed iPhone 4 -- guaranteed.
They aren't going to talk the reception issue just tell us when the white will be available :-)

Apple could actually improve their image by owning a situation like this and offering a solution that is favorable to most iPhone users.

I saw an article about Apple turning a "new leaf?", but let's be honest...Apple has been nearly perfect so far.

We can't expect flawless, but can certainly demand the remedies we want. For me, a free bumper would be fine...hopefully they'll make a dock/charger that works with it though :(
they should say the release dates of other countries.

I think that apple will announce a produce recall for the iPhone 4 admitting that there is a problem and how there going to fix it will be to either redesign the iphone4 and then people will take their phones back to apple and swap them for a new iPhone. Apple are getting way too much bad PR and like apple say it's all about the brand name and if apple release a bad product people with think twice before going there again

I just hope they don't hold the iPhone 4 press conference wrong, nobody will be able to understand them.
This whole thing makes me angry, if this happened to any other high end smart phone manf. ( HTC mainly) people would riot in the streets looking for there money back. When the ipad launched Josh tweeted that " its just gadgets people, not bibles" and i had to agree, there where some that got out of hand. Now however i think we have crossed the line form good product deserving of a fanbace to religious worshiping over slight re vamps of crap we've had for a while. This is apparent in more the the iphone (core i7 macbook, i mean asus had that in what jan 2009?) But that's just my speech from my soap box, good day all.

1. Consumer reports still rates both apple phones the highest
2. they said the bumper fixes the issue
3 apple offers a 30 day no questions asked return policy,
so where is the need for an outrage? keep the phone if it works for you or return it! apparently the android fans cannot understand why so many people are still willing to be on a wait list for this phone and no one really cares about the droid x
people are trying to manufacture outrage. its not like apple is refusing a refund to anyone.
@ResidentEVO not to mention that HTC/google would never give "hold it another way" as the fix, and make people buy a stop cap measure for 30 bucks.
@jaffreywali I understand that, however the thought that a company put out this product claiming it to be the best thing since sliced bread, a revolution in consumer electronics. Then after launch there is an issue with it and they tell 1.7 million people to take their newly bought product and hold it differently is ridiculous i dont care if theirs a return policy or not. The thought that people didnt laugh all the way back to the apple store and get there money back that instant is stupid after an answer like that.

Maybe Apple knew the antenna was a slight issue, but released it anyway to justify selling a $30 piece of plastic...

It amazes me how so many people are not only willing to forgive Apple for a hardware problem, but also have no problem paying $29 to fix the problem that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Its about time. I have been waiting for a solution that did not require me to spend my money to fix something that was not even my fault.
