iPhone DSLR: the next generation (video)
Everything you know about awkwardly attaching SLR lenses to iPhones is wrong. This is how you do it. What started out as a quick and less-than-perfect mod of OWLE's Bubo iPhone mount by one Jeremy Salvador (pictured above) has turned into a collaboration between production company Vid-Atlantic and OWLE itself on a more finely tuned, iPhone 4-friendly prototype that delivers some truly impressive results. Sadly, the actual iPhone 4 version of the rig won't be available for a while yet, but you can get an idea of what will be possible with it after the break.

@gargle
If your 720p HD video looks grainy... then you've failed. I seriously don't understand why this video camera is held in it's high marvels, while every other 720p HD camera is "ok" at best. To me, they look too similar to say that one is significantly better than the other.
attaching DSLR lenses to an iphone wont make it a DSLR in any way
because a DSLR is a digital single-lens reflex camera
@mahirh and where the ______ in a iphone is a mirror , a retroreflective one
Already said somewhere, I'm sure but......in order to call this a DSLR, it needs to have a reflex mirror: FAIL.
It's grainy and reminds me of Gears of War.
@gargle I wonder if we'll see crap like this for the Galaxy S devices which have better photo and video quality than the iPhone 4.
P.S. To Apple fanboys, don't argue. Just go to YouTube and compare the two. I have shown people, who all have iPhones, samples from the two and it was unanimous that the Galaxy S's output was much higher quality than the iPhone's.
This is pathetic. Who would ever invest in such an idea?
Its very surprising that someone would actually spend the time to engineer this thing. At the end of the day, the complete setup with adapter and lens appears no smaller and even more cumbersome than a DSLR.
Who is willing to pay the cash for this for instant fast youtube upload while giving up tremendous quality?
At some point people really have to understand that you cant have an all in one device.
Whilst this may not be impressive, it's a step towards more modular technology and I think that's a good thing. Don't knock progress.
This will be amazing on Nokia n8. No one tops Nokia in the camera department.
can you say 'tiny sensor'
Will we have to wait a couple months extra for the white version?
Kinda pointless, but it's cool.
i higly doubt it potentioal, dont be angry on me, apple fans, but it doesnt worh it.
What a dumb idea. If I have DSLR lenses, Why would I attached MY lenses to my iPhone, it should be attached to MY DSLR!
Why would anyone need to use a DSLR lenses on a phone camera?
