Twitch will host a 24-hour Pokémon marathon this Saturday

It's the franchise's 20th birthday.

Pokémon is celebrating its 20th birthday with a massive global bash this weekend and has declared February 27th "Pokémon Day." Fans on the East Coast can join in the festivities at Nintendo New York in Rockefeller Center while West Coast gamers will want to check out the Pokémon pop-up shop at JapanLA in Los Angeles. If you don't live on the coasts, don't despair. Twitch is hosting a 24-hour non-stop Pokémon marathon as well.

Starting at 10am PST on Saturday, the official Pokémon Twitch channel will feature a wide array of G-rated discussions, gameplay and analysis. Then, at 6pm PST, Twitch will host an animated extravaganza of popular Pokémon episodes, movies and specials, which will run until 6pm Sunday.

Additionally, Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow will be available in all their original glory for the Nintendo 3DS at the Nintendo eShop on the 27th. Red and Blue are also coming out in a special 20th anniversary bundle.
