CD playing lamp with projected controls

Hong-ik University (Korea) scholar Suk-woo Lee received the IDEA Gold Award for the design of a CD player deftly integrated into a lamp. Instead of a remote control or button panel, the CD controls are projected via LED (what, no lasers?!) onto the surface below while still illuminating your humble surroundings. If this "student design exploration" actually works, it's certainly a better application of projected input than those virtual keyboards we've seen rightly slammed.
