Philips' new CD/DVD/Blu-ray burner

The title Yahoo! News has up for this story ("Philips Unveils DVD Burner That Plays CDs") about a new optical drive from Philips sort of completely misses the point. It's not that Philips didn't unveil a new DVD burner that also plays CDs, it's just that in the year 2005 that kind of thing is hardly news, and the real big to-do about the new drive is that it can also play and burn Blu-ray discs. To get the job done the drive actually has three lasers,
one for each different disc format.
