China only managed second place, where a staggering 90% of the software market is made up of pirated materials. So China only gets the silver medal. Better luck next time.

What I find disturbing is the comment by ESA president Doug Lowenstein about how countries "skirt their global obligations to protect intellectual property", followed by veiled threats.

In Canada, currently, downloading MP3's is legal, due to a levy we pay on all blank CD's. The point? Each country deals with intellectual property rights their own way. No other country has the right to say "you have to do it this way." I'm curious what the US can do to "crack down", since obviously they've achieved nothing so far.
