The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit has ruled against a request made by Lexmark in a case where they tried the clever tactic of using the DMCA to stop companies from selling cheaper ink catridges for their printers.  It's no secret printer companies make most of their money from sales of ink catridges, not printers, so you can be sure Lexmark won't give in that easily.  The case is expected to go to full trial in December.
