Everything you wanted to know about USB but were afraid to ask

Despite our obsession professional interest in useless unique
USB peripherals, we don't expect to have to answer any serious USB-related trivia questions in the near future ("I'll take I/O Protocols for $100, Alex").
But just in case, we're glad IBM has posted a cheat sheet on their developerWorks web site. The article includes some good info going all the way back to the earliest days of the standard (USB 1.0 was introduced in 1995), and rightly credits Apple with popularizing it via the original iMac (which also, of course, was responsible for a wave of cheap,
ugly, translucent products). All in all, a good read — though we wish it had answered one of our burning questions:
where did that USB pitchfork symbol come from?
