New NEC projectors include update to lens-free WT model

Why roll out one new product at a time, when you can launch six? That seems to be the idea behind NEC's announcement of six new projectors in its VT, LT and lines. The VT models, targeting businesses and schools, are the $795 VT37,
$1,195 VT575 and the $1,995 VT676. At the low end, you get a 1,500 lumen lamp; the top model has 2,500 lumens. The smaller LT models are the $1,495, 20 pound LT20 and the HDTV-capable LT180, also $1,495. At the high end is the WT610
(pictured), which has built in WiFi, 2000 lumens, a 3500:1 contrast ratio, and a price tag of $5,995. The projector also has the ability to display big images from extremely small distances — like 40 inches from 2 inches away and 100 inches from 26 inches — by using a group of aspheric mirrors instead of a traditional lens. (It replaces the similar WT600, which had a 1500-lumen bulb and a lower contrast ratio.) Sounds like the perfect thing for presentations — and for after-hours gaming parties.
