Mirage Screen claims to enhance projected images
One of the big downsides of using a projector as your TV is that they work best in darkened rooms; turn on a couple of lights and the screen quickly fades from view (the other drawbacks, of course, include intense heat from the bulb and the noisy fan required to keep that heat under control).
Screen Innovations claims to have solved the visibility problem with the Mirage Screen, which the company says uses a patented filter that covers 60% of the screen and absorbs ambient light. Screen Innovations also says the screen offers 10-times the contrast of standard projection screens. They'll be showing it off at the Custom Electronic Design &
Installation Association EXPO in September, and if it works as claimed, it could be just the thing to make a new
DLP projector worth considering.
