New Plasmas from Pioneer coming soon

We recently reported that Hitachi is coming out with a new line of CRT rear projection units, but missed this press release from Pioneer that indicates that they too are coming out with new TVs this fall. Pioneer is refreshing their PureVision and Elite lines with their 6th generation panels that  improve contrast levels while having a smaller bezel. The Elite line also sports more HDMI inputs and "Home Gallery" media card inputs for viewing pictures via a PC card on the screen. I did notice though that they are pulling the Media Center control unit from the PureVision line and bundling it with just the Elite.

It's great when new plasmas come out, but even better that Pioneer also dropped the price on the new units from $6,500 for the 50" PureVision to $6,000. More importantly though, this announcement is a great sign that you can pick up a pervious generation PureVision or Elite at a great discount when the new lines are introduced sometime in September.
